So, Rich and I spent the day driving to a big shop in CT, then to Adamstown, PA, for the Presidents Day Sale that started yesterday. Most of the shops in the area have discounts of 10-50%!!

On the way we saw a number of buses from NYC to Boston, Fung Wah included. However, I wasn't hesitant to pull up to and pass this Lucky Star bus headed for NYC. It wasn't tipping over, and wasn't on fire! FUNG-WAH!!!!!

We've managed to fill an 18" cube box so far, not including the pedestals (sorry, Ron, for the botched spelling earlier). Lots of neat stuff that we can share when we unpack. But, I'm learning, too. Since we're in an efficiency, I'm posting pix of the appliances. Not detailed pix, but pix nonetheless!!!

More pix tomorrow night hopefully!

Hey,

Sorry, guys, but we didn't grab either. This area seems to be a Mecca for Pyrex, esp bowl sets. Generally the different dealers have them priced right about a retail, but now and then you can score something, esp if the fleas are open.

Today we started out by heading South to a couple of shops we found last year when we were here. We remembered these FAB juke boxes. THe owner says they both work. Got a spare $2800 (before negotiations)???

The same dealer also had some TVs we saw last year. Well, the pix are outside because this year we did a little hard negotiating and bought our two faves; a Magnavox on its original stand and a GE bakelite. So we snapped them before loading.

Here's a display in the same shop that had the cool kitchen table set we shot last year. Mut have been a museum, though, 'cause the prices were so dear nobody would dare buy anything!

We bought some nice goodies that we didn't shoot (all kinds of stuff), and maybe we can shoot some when we're unpacking them after we get home.

Tomorrow we'll finish shopping Adamstown (2 large shops and a medium one to go), then head over to Annville to the Antique Station for our last stop before heading home. It's a converted grocery warehouse or something like that. It's HUGE!!

Did anyone go out thrifting or fleaing (is that even a word?) this weekend?

Chuck

What, no dishwasher?

OOOOH Looks like you boys had fun!
Stop-in in NYC sometime when you are passing through!

:-)

P.S. Code requires 30" (75 +/-cm) between the cooktop and the bottom of the cabinet above it! Call the fire Marshall! *LOL*

That HOMART "sink" is actually a suds-tub for use with a suds-saver model washer. The storage drawer underneath is quite handy. I would love to have one of those.

Ah, Annville. That's right in my backyard. I used to go to the Antique Station (used to be Antique Depot) quite a bit. It's gotten a lot smaller than what it once was. Now there is a lazer tag joint and a thrift store on the one end. You can still find some neat stuff there. Amazingly, there are things there that were in the booths when they opened years ago.

Of the two big antiquey malls near here one just closed down a month or so back. Probably a sign of the times people are being more careful about what they spend. Not only that but they tend to ask alot for some of the stuff and like Todd says above I've noticed so much of the stuff has been in the displays well ever since we moved back in 06

When I made the Ice cream cones for the 50's dance show

I used Great Stuff too but for the ice cream cones I used real ones and shellacked them......I still have them I think as well as the ice Cream sundae's and root beer float I made....have to find them and take pics. PAT

Call the fire Marshall!

Why? So they could discover there was no smoke/CO detector in the room either???!!!

Tim: The Homart's lid was a little on the rough side from having that sewing machine on top of it for a while. Otherwise it was pretty nice. $32 with the discount IIRC. It's at The Mad Hatter on Rt 272 in Adamstown. Maybe they'll ship???

Todd: At first we were quite disappointed at the Depot (I still call it that) as last time we were there there was a lot more to it. Looks like the thrift store took over about 1/3 of what the depot used to be, didn't they? Yeah, we saw a lot of stuff we'd seen before, and it's been a couple of years since we'd been there.

We did see a few things though:
