Should I keep this?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Eddy....looks similar to my 1959 Kenmore. You should save the machine, especially if it works. The Machine looks like it is in mint condition.

Having fun. smooches!

Now you guys really ruffed up my beautiful peacock (did I spelled that right?) feathers!!!

Does it really matter if the water sit and drains or spin-away?
NO!!!

The job gets done automatically without human intervention and the D opening is to remind us to open with a smile!
Love my Kenmores.......

;-))

Oh yea, that Kenmore is a keeper!

Eddy,
Love it! Kinda like a stripped down Model 70 from the 67-69 era. It looks naked compared to the Model 70 I grew up with. Under the permanent press cycle does it say "Wash-N-Wear"? If it only says that, then it is an early model. Very, very cool. This your first Kenmore?

Luigi, I highly doubt Neal is a broad. Last time I looked, he was all man, facial hair included. LOL And Lesto, I guess there were millions of us morons & idiots buying Kenmores & Whirlpools.

That's right Louis, no trouble yet though, but there is plenty of time and if I come home with another machine, I'll be even in more trouble! Think trouble, think trouble!

Jason, ouch that well deserved smack hurt!

Thank you Cleantam

That's right. The D shaped opening does look like a smile. So comforting to have a washer that smiles at you every time you open the lid. And it sings to you while it's washing at that.

True happiness is owning a vintage Kenmore.

Eddy, I am sure if you do not want this machine somebody from this club would love to have it. Thank you for saving a "low milage one owner" creampuff!

Don't think I share my mom's distaste for vintahe Kenmores. Quite the contrary. I loved watching the ones our neighbors had from late 50's to mid 60's and longed for one of my own.

Whirlpool & Canada?

I have never seen a Kenmore without Sears stamped beside it, at least in the Sixties? What is it with Whirlpool in Canada?
Why is there Inglis and in the late sixties Whirlpool marketed "Victor" washers & dryers without the "RCA" name, but
these were Whirlpool machines or Inglis machines. Does anyone know why they do not use the Whirlpool name in Canada?
When did Whirlpool buy Inglis?

Bob and Les, behave you too. Bob you are right, it wouldn't be noticed unless its in the living room!

I could be wrong but I don't think Whirlpool ever owned Inglis, but Inglis used Whirlpool as a outsourcer to build their appliances.

Whirlpool owned or owns a minority share in Inglis which was all they were allowed under Canadian foreign ownership laws, FIRA. CGE (Cdn General Electric) was already a big player in Canada, operated as a seperate company arms length from the US Parent. Basically buying a share of Inglis allowed Whirpool access to the Canadian market without having to invest in new factories and Inglis more or less needed Whirpool to stand up against the merger of CGE and Moffat/GSW which then became known as CAMCO (Cdn Appliance Manufacaturers Corp)

opening

"Greg you forgot to mention that the "D" shaped opening makes loading and unloading somewhat inconvenient".

Consumer Reports used to mention that ALL the time in their reports
