Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Jamie ... I bet if it was from the late 1980's, it will have the quick, short agitation stroke. Not like the machines from the 1960's/1970's. $185 seems like a lot!!

nah

you can find cheaper and older tags and even if you need to tinker with them yourself they are so easy to mess with

Too High

It depends on your perspective and purpose. Some of us here are dealers and when buying from a dealer one should expect to pay more than from a private party. A dealer has overhead a private party doesn't. Dealers also offer services and warranties/guarantees that must be considered in the equation. If buying from a private party, the price should be much less because the buyer is taking a chance on the honesty of the seller and since the seller may not be an expert, probably doesn't really know what the overall condition is. A person looking for a machine to use for practical purposes may want the assurance of knowing the machine will function correctly and therefore pays more.

A606

I have found a white Maytag A606 siiting in front of the Salvation Army for several weeks now and they have it priced at $10.00. No idea if it works but it looks very clean and like it would be fun to play with. I thought it looked older than the 70's but maybe not. Anyone know what year they nade this model? I know people say these are easy ones to work on. Are there any parts you wouldn't be able to get?

The old helical drive transmission may be hard to find in its entirety, but you can still re-build it with separate parts that are still available. I'd also say "go for it"!
