I have recently run out of Shout Action Foamer aerosol stain remover, and no one carries in in my area anymore.

IMHO, this was the world's greatest stuff as far as removing oily stains from clothing (the one stain problem I have), and the regular Shout is a mere shadow of this great product.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find it, or another product that's effective?

Thanks,
Mike

As per someone on this forum's suggestion, I tried a product called Lestoil and it does a great job with greasy/oily stains. It looks (and smells) like a bottle of PineSol. Just rub a little into your grease stain and launder. I keep getting grease stains from bumping into the door frame of my car lately, so I've been using it on cotton blend dress shorts a lot. Also on shirts.

I've also had good luck with the Spray 'n' Wash stain stick (looks like a big tube of chapstick), but for really tough grease stains, look for Lestoil. The only place I can find it in my area is at WalMart. But a bottle of it will last forever. I've had mine close to two years and it's not even half gone.

Mike, I use that stuff, too, and only recently used up the last of a can. I know it's available somewhere here in Portland, but I can't remember where I last bought it or saw it. It's on my grocery list, though, so I'll let you know if I find it anywhere.

Thanks! :-)

Frigilux, zipdang, and Launderess...

I had a friend of mine who showed me how to get hair dye out of a pastel shirt with Pine-Sol....I'm thinking that the Lestoil would be a similar, maybe more powerful product. I used to use the Spray and Wash stain stick in college in the 80's but haven't seen it around for a while (maybe I haven't looked).

I also used to use Fels Naptha years ago but had forgotten how effective it was (hopefully is) on some stains. I will definitely try all your suggestions....thank you all so much!

Zipdang, definitely let me know if/when you find the Action Foamer....I love that product for its sheer convenience....spray it on...leave it there for a few minutes, and then wash.

I notice that Fuller Brush has a stain spray that appears to be similar...has anyone tried that one?

Blessings and a happy Friday to all,
Mike

Thanks Launderess, I forgot to mention that Lestoil (if you treat more than one or two spots in a load) will definitely leave your wet laundry with eau de PineSol. Once they come out of the dryer I don't notice it, but you'll definitely smell it when they come out of the washer.

Of course, some people use PineSol in the laundry specifically for its deodorizing properties. I have a neighbor who adds about 1/4 cup to every load just for that purpose. I guess some people like the way it smells...

Hot Diggety!!!

Finally found the Action Foamer....Albertson's carries it.

Also went to the SC Johnson site, and found that they've changed the name back to Shout Aerosol....go figure. Hopefully it does the same magic the Action Foamer does.

Seriously, all you need is a light spray, and anything greasy is GONE....even in tap cold water. :-) I also made a mental note of everyone else's wonderful posts, just in case I have a hard time finding it again.

Mike, thanks for the Albertson's tip. I checked Albertson's online, but they don't offer the aerosol on their site. It must be a top secret in-store-only thing. I'll pop in tomorrow and stock up.

If you haven't already, don't waste your time looking at Safeway, Fred Meyer, Zupans, Stroheckers, Haggen, Target, or Winco. Sigh.

I hate it when I'm sleepy at 4:07 AM, I just click and click, and click and stumble across the price:
