Another classic beauty

This was my mother's car, 1985 Buick LeSabre Limited Collector's Edition.
My dad bought this car for mom in July of 1985, and she drove it until March of last year...pretty much for 20 years. In 20 years it had 115,000 miles on it. Over the years my dad would offer mom any new car she wanted, her answer was always the same: "I'm keeping my big bad black Buick!"
It was un-ceremoniously traded in for a 2005 Mercury Sable.
I tried to get it from the dealer, but it was sold pretty quick to who knows...
This one would have been fun to keep and restore.
This picture was taken when the car was still fairly new, probably fall 1985. It still looked this good when it was traded in.

Great cars all! Captainmoody, your car fits in perfectly with the feel of the houses in the neighborhood. That brings back such memories.

Jeff, the 76 Electra is the one my parents had when I learned to drive. Ours was a very pretty cream color and I don't think it was missing anything available. (Yes Virginia, there was day that families with kids got by without minivans and SUVs!) LOL Anyone looking at this picture will know why I could not parallel park until I was 35! LOL Did yours have that buzzer you could set to warn you you were going too fast? I thought that was so cool. What does Mother think of the Sable? I know you had one and went back to this style. How is the Grand Marquis for driving in winter weather? (I know it has rear drive).
 
Jeff - now that is one rare Buick! You can usually spot a few Olds/Chevy/Pontiac two-door 77-85 B-Bodies around here still - but you NEVER see any Buicks! Nothing like crusin' with an Olds 307 under the hood!

Dwight - nice 66 Lesabre! That would be a great summer car. Still have a Nailhead under the hood? Ya know - that guy there would be a switch-pitch car - either a 2 speed or a 400!

Alas mom does not drive much these days, she injured her ankle last December and now leaves most of the driving to dad.
My 76 Buick was the Park Avenue edition, and loaded. Yes it had that damn buzzer, I remember setting it at 70 mph, and I never really drove it much faster than 65 or so... back when I had that car the nationwide speed limit was 55 still!!!
 
I guess it's time for me to share pic's of my rides. This is my 1988 Chevy Astro van that I've had for about 12 years now. It has about 300,000 miles on it. the reason why it's sitting up on blocks is because I have been working on installing a new clutch in it. Although it looks like an ordinary Astro van, it has some unusual options. First, it's one of only 1,500 built with 5-speed transmissions. It's even more rare because it is a factory-finished interior model. Most of the 5-speed models were cargo vans. The other unsual thing is as previously mentioned, it's a factory finished interior, but it does not have the last set of rear windows. This window configuration was frequently only found on cargo models, and not fully finished models. It's equipped with a 4.3 liter V6 engine, Power locks, and I installed a fancy audio system in it a good while back too, and also upgraded the dashboard to the digital gauge cluster. I tow the camper in the background with it, and it does a great job! The best MPG's I've seen out of it is around the 28 MPG mark. This will occur usually in cool weather when I can get by without AC or rolling the windows down, and if I keep my speed below 65 mph.

It's been a totally fun little van that my friends and I have taken on many road trips. Most of them thought it was odd that as a 20 year old single guy, I was buying a minivan, of course it didn't take long for them to realize why!

This is my daily driver, when I'm not in my company van, a SAAB 900 Turbo. I've had this car for about 3 years now, and it has been a great little ride. I need to give it a paint job, but other than that, she's in pretty good shape! The engine is a 2.0 liter with an intercooled turbo. Very fun to drive with handling like a go-kart. At about 3000 RPM's the turbo wakes up, and you'd better hold on tight!!!

This is one of the older generation SAAB 900's which I have been told are the best ones. The basic body design came out as the 99 in 1967, and has undergone routine changes to keep it up to date, but has pretty much remained the same. Newer SAAB 900s and 93's after 1995 I've been told are nothing more than Chevy Malibus with turbocharged engines and leather seats. This car however has many unique engineering features, like the "backwords" installed engine, and a hood design that supposed to flip up, and cover the windshield during a collision. Every time I do maintainence on this car, I find some nifty feature that is totally intelligent in it's design, like the little screw adjusters for the v-belts, and the allen key that retracts the brake rotors when changing the pads. Everything is also over-engineered and designed much more tougher than a typical American or Japanese ride.

Nice Allante! I was lookin all over the place to find one of those when I finally bought the SAAB. I especially wanted to find one of the rare ones with the Northstar engine in it, and the touchscreen CRT.
 
We were a Buick family...

Mom had her '85 LeSabre, and I wanted one badly. By the time I could afford *NEW* this was all GM had in full size rear drive vehicles.
This was my first new Buick, a 1988 Electra Estate Wagon, loaded with everything. It was a demo model, 5000 miles on it when I bought it.
I sold the 76 Electra shortly after I bought this.

Cyber don't feel bad, I was 24 when I bought this car, and I got some strange looks from friends too, but this was the car we could all pile into and GO!
I drove this til 1997, it had 125,000 miles on it and was having some major engine issues that nobody could fix. I was sad to see this one go too.
Cars today just don't have the style they used to...

The picture of my car would just bore everyone. I currently drive a Ford Freestyle. which I love but I am convinced was inspired by the "Family Truckster" featured in the first Chevy Chase Vacation movie.
I have no vintage cars, but my favorite is still the 1960 Chevrolet Impala.
 
My current vehicle is 1999 Dodge Ram 1500.

I've always wanted a Dodge Ram ever since the new body style came out in 1994. I went and bought this truck in the beginning of 2002 and have never regretted the purchase.

She had 24,600 miles when I bought her and now has a little over 81,000.

When winter time comes around, she get's to stretch out her axles and whatnot as we go out and do a little mudding and off-roading.

I'll post a pic later on tonight.
