Okay, has anyone else also noticed this? P&G has shrunk there 50fl oz bottles, to a mere 40 oz. That's almost 8 whole loads lost.

In my area, the 50 oz Bottles, were $4.97 at Wal-Mart, but now there completely gone, and the 40oz replacement, is $5.24. So, increased price, and even less detergent.

But P&G doesn't seem to be the only one guilty. Arm & Hammer, has made smaller bottles, with reduced number of loads as well, and than made slightly bigger bottles (at a Higher price of course) with claims of 33% more, or some other number.

I'm just wondering, anyone else noticing this change? Anyone else spotted any other brands that are guilty?

This is CPS!

And what, may one ask, is CPS?

It stands for Colgate-Palmolive Syndrome.

C-P has long been famous for downsizing the product - giving less, and keeping the price where it was. Palmolive bar soap is now so mingy that a bar does not last me - a single person - a full week. Other products have undergone the same shrinkage. C-P is especially famous for bottles that look the same as previous versions - same height and width. The shrinkage is from front to back.

No amount of consumer protest has ever caused C-P to reconsider, either. The only reason I use their stuff is because much of it is brands I grew up with - Palmolive is tiny, but it's the soap I've used all my life. Same with Ajax, Colgate, Cashmere Bouquet (my favorite hand soap, but very hard to find now) and several others.

At any rate, Colgate-Palmolive is not called an industry leader for nothing.

Actually, here, since the introduction of concentrates most detergents went from 25 to 28 loads per bottle!
And many manufacturers introduced big 40/50 loads bottles that didn't exist before.
Seldom you find "promotional" 18/20 load bottles but that's a rare occurrence.

Naw...

I'm fairy sure, them dropping there 50oz size, and replacing it with a smaller bottle at a higher price is intentional..

Here when they went, concentrate, 100oz bottles, went from 32 loads, to 64 loads. And, 15 loads bottles suddenly went to 32.

Personally, I don't like the concentrates. I don't they dissolve as well, and overtime, are the sole purpose of mildew and odor bulidup in HE machines.

Remember a few years ago when grocery prices started to skyrocket and the manufacturers of such goods blamed it all on high gas prices for delivery of said goods.

Well, now that gas prices have come down considerably since then how come we are still paying the same high prices?

How come we are still paying the same high prices?

Because the dollar keeps losing its purchasing power via Federal Reserve inflation, although most people don't understand this. They see rising prices and mistakingly blame big oil companies, corporations, retailers, etc.

According to the BLS inflation calculator the dollar has lost almost 30% of its purchasing power in the last ten years alone, the real numbers are even higher:
