Help Support :

It makes me feel happy to see all those beautiful vintage Christmas things.  I've started some preliminary planning for the season already.  You all will have the most beautiful house around I'm sure!

I have always enjoyed your collection and decorating. Hopefully you moved it all without breakage. My collection is minimal but enjoyable. Lots of bubble lites, snowballs,c6 cones etc. we change our look every year. One day we will go to a estate sale and hit a jackpot. Enjoy your collection and the upcoming holidays.

It all looks awesome Hans... but I'm really hoping now that you are settled in that we'll see some photos of them on display this year! I remember the photos of the display at your old house and it was great!

it is

something u should see in person he has the same passion about Christmas as we do about appliances so happy nad proud to be a friend with both of them

Just wonderful!!  I'm in the Christmas mood now after looking at all those lovely lights and decorations!  Methinks it's going to be a C6 tree in Ogden - I'll blame Donald if Hubby kicks up any kind of a fuss...

Menorah!

Hey, what's that Menorah doing in there?

I've got some 50's vintage Woolworth's xmas lights and I just love bubble lights!

Silvestri

I grew up with Silvestri lights. I hold dear the old 35 light strings with bulbs that were not replaceable and the shades have been referred to as tulips orbells. I think they are more like bells. I love the multicolored with the green wire but only have a few. Every once in a while I can score a set on ebay, but its rare. I think they were from the late 60's or early 70's.

I am wild about Christmas and can't wait. Seeing these pictures posted put me in the mood. I don't have a lot of vintage items but I have some great memories.

Der Bingle and the Andrews sisters

That's my first memory of christmas! That, Elvis and the Rat Pack! I'll have to get the Evergleam put up this year!

I try to do holiday stuff like Christmas, Thanksgiving etc. so I don't forget how. That way if I should ever meet a lady that's NOT the center of the known universe, I'll still be at least somewhat socially viable.

@stchuck,

I have about 75 of those 35 double flasher sets in various styles. OMG, they are a ROYAL pain the a$$ to maintain. NOMA seems to be really bad about the sockets cracking, I can "sort of" fix them, but yeah, they have "interesting" problems. And that's putting it mildly.

My parents fell in love last with a star type reflector usually found on tree tops. I had to build two of these sets FROM SCRATCH to cover a 4ft tree using the dual color bulbs and I still had one meltdown. This year, I might not be using many of these sets.

I think the style that you want is Badminton. They do show up relatively often on Ebay but prices are $$$ and climbing. I've pretty much stopped buying for now.
There are replacements available on Ebay, but make sure that the bulbs are in the 5-7 volt range.

Now the OTHER style of these sets date to the late 50's, early 60's. You are correct, they are shaped sort of like a flower, and the bulbs are hardwired in.

Since it wont let me edit.

I'm using some repurposed 15 light red/green 1950's strands in a major Halloween display. Got 50 of this style pumpkin-

Here's the sets I'm using. (cut off the red bead and sealed the plugs with silicon)

Another example

Drilled holes in the back of the pumpkins, put a clear bulb through the hole, and screwed into the bakelite sockets on the sets. Then staked the pumpkins down across the front of the house. The spacing on these is 18 inches, which is perfect and it looks AMAZING. Will post pictures later if I can remember.

About these 1950's sets, don't get me started on vintage pink replacement bulbs...it's pretty mortage your house levels now...
