Have a look at this, an entire warehouse of vintage audio equipment, NIB!!

Just amazing, isn't it? The guy has been selling this stuff on Ebay. The only thing is that this guy is touting that this is all from the 70's when it's not. A lot of it is from the 90's, DVD players, etc. But there are a few pieces there from the late 70's early 80's. But why does this guy remind me of the Sham Wow guy?

I'd worry about dried out capacitors, etc but the feedback so far is 100% positive,

What did you see?

wow!-time capsule!

wow!! looks like lots of vintage goodies there even if a lot of it is mid-'80s and
newer consumer grade stuff.Did notice a couple garrard boxes marked"made in great
britain",so might be some real gems there.Could be plenty of bad belts, flatspotted
rollers, rotted foam surrounds in that but maybie not. There is a place in michigan
called"quickdrop"or something like that-i have bought quite a bit of vintage '80s
car speakers from(phase linear,AFS kriket,blaupunkt(the real german stuff)rockford
fosgate)and a couple vintage NOS amps:everthing as new in every way with no age
related deterioration evident at all, even after heavy usage.

For anyone who may be interested in these items, here is a link to the sellers auctions. BTW, I don't know this seller at all and I am just putting this link in here as a convenience for our aw.org viewers.

I wish the guy would include more details about the item in his auctions. But when you have that much merchandise to sell......

they are pretty cool speakers, around 1981-'83 vintage, but no way worth anywhere
near $699.00!!-starting bid of around $100 would be closer to reality if they are
indeed in really nice shape.Probably a pretty limited market for early '80s era
car speakers...
Probably not a typo-guy must really think this stuff is gold...

Pioneer car speakers at $699?? What have these people been breathing??Too much 70's dust off the boxes of those components.A name not mentioned by the narrator----LUXMAN!!That was a Hi end brand from the 70's 80's that didn't get much attentioin-but were excellent-sometimes called the "Japanese McInTosh!"Those would be the real treasures.Pioneer Laserdisc machines-these are very nice----but---no discs to play on them.Unless you find used ones at yard sales and swap shops-sadly--DVD's are much better. And take up LESS space. But Laserdisc was SO MUCH BETTER THAN CRAPPY VHS!!!!For caps in these peices-you may be able to reform them by cooking the device on a Variac for a few hours. If the speakers had Butyl rubber cone sorrounds-many did in the 70's-80's not an issue. If not the speakers would be worth having them rebuilt. But yes--a very cool 70-80's Hi-Fi time capsule.what is with the tag on the narrators cap?Belts may be OK-idler wheels,too-most TT's were shipped and stored "out of gear"and you may be able to fix the idlers by just simply running the TT at 78 RPM for several minutes.

Certainly a treasure trove of new vintage equipment, but they don't appear to be flying off the "Buy It Now" shelf. If eBay is the only venue the seller is using then I'm guessing it will take years to sell a large percentage of it. I'm sure he's wise enough to be looking for quantity buyers...still, for an old antique like me that worked with some of this stuff when it was new it's very impressive. The only thing that looks nicer than a stack of audio components lit up is a vintage electric range or laundry pair with their fluorescents on.

For me--radio station work-is a 70's or ealier transmitter-they had chrome sorrounded veiwing windows--is when they are running and all of the tubes and status lights on!For AM-1Kw transmitters-the modulator tube plates flickering to the modulation! And yes,the lights on older Hi-Fi gear, and appliances-another one for me---Tubed hi-Fi components that are running and the tubes on!!And the SMELL of them!!Esp if the components are in wood cabinets. That warm wooden smell is so nice! And another one for esp older tranmsitters-the blue glow mercury vapor rectifier tubes!!!

To Firedome

I dunno.. There was a lot of 1980's vintage stuff which was pretty decent.

The trick is finding the stuff which isn't really consumer grade, but more professional grade or even audiophile grade.

You know, I'm going to leave tube vs transistor in a seperate thread because I have my own opinions about that!
