is back. Just saw an infomercial for the Singer "Lazer Storm" vacuum cleaner system. They seem to be targeting the Oreck vacuum.

Vewwy interesting!

Argh! But was is this fetish for lightweight? I want a tank, doggone it, one that causes the floors to squeak, and dustbunnies to quake in their little linty-boots!

Lightweight schmiteweight -- if you don't rip a hernia getting it out of the closet, break out in a sweat, and have sore muscles requiring pain rubs and aspirin after housework, then you're just not doing it right, I say! :-)

Isn't Igia

that place that cells overstock garbage that doesn't sell? I may be totally wrong, but I have seen on TV their ads for tongue scrapers (yech) and like a ton of goods for $19.95.

Is Singer really the organization making these products, or are they sadly just selling their nameplate like Bell and Howell does for that crummy Norelco shaver knock off?

I just have the gut feeling that the Singer vac shown is about as good as a "Shark Steamer" of "Shark Vac".

I could be wrong about all of this!

Singer has just licensed their name for this stuff err junk. A local liquidation store had pallets of these earlier in the year first for $20, then down to $10 so I grabbed one at that price. They're extremely poor quality made in china, friction fit, all brittle type plastic worth about $10 on a sunny day.

Looks like one of those bagless "shark" vacuums in different "clothing"Looks like a DUMPSTER VAC!!!You empty it once or twice-starts falling apart or breaking---then you throw it into the dumpster and get another-and another-and---.And I bet besides that messy dust cup--it has a VERY MESSY foam filter-inneffective as well-great in letting dust get into the motor and TEAR IT UP!!!And when you use it-get out the apron and dust mask--truely a dust spitting "broom" vac!!Its sad that Singer stoops so low..Yes--just like those B&H products-nothing like B&H projectors.

Well I think they still make some sewing machines if they haven't farmed that out. I see them at Walmart and super drug stores all the time so whether they make higher quality machines like Husqvarna and Elna I don't know. Been awhile since CR did a sewing machine report that I remember.

Is anyone sewing anymore?I remember as a child my mom would be sitting at her old Singer sewing machine making our clothes-She still has it-and still works-she doesn't use it much anymore. The sewing machine and equipment place here closed down a few years ago-she also carried a few vacuums.Bought up her remaining stock-(used machines-she no longer had the income to get new ones)She had many types of sewing machines and she could repair them. Also remember the old Singer "Sew-and-Vac) stores-were pretty neat-while mom looked for patterns I was looking at the vacuums.-and watching them give sewing machine demos-was kinda fun.
