My first exposeure to the induction method was at John Lefever's a few years ago. Quite amazed, I decided right then that it was the only way I would ever learn to cook on an electric stove.

Louis that looks great----and where is that brand manufactured?
Looks much more substantial than the (non-induction type) "Chinatrash" type single units found over here in the States.

FYI: They applied to some Top freezer frdiegs too.. When i was 4 grams had one and it was replaced with a brand new one from GE

The brand name of this cooker is Prima Donna (What's in a name?). I bet it's made by one of those Chinese manufacturers, but there is nothing about it's origin on the box, in the manual or on the cooker itself.

I boiled a litre of water and it took 4 1/2 minutes. Not exactly fast, but as I said before it's only 1600 Watts. I bet the 2700 Watts model does it much faster. I also boiled rice tonight on the special rice cycle and the rice came out perfect.

My mother has an electric cooktop with solid burners and it takes indeed forever to heat up and cool off.

Boil in 41/2

The average American coil burner, the fastest heating source for American stoves, brings a gallon of water to boil in about 11 minutes, gas 17.
Tests were done by CR using the TOL range from each category.
