Curious to hear if anyone's ever heard/used/seen the Smeg horizontal dishwasher? Seems to be an interesting design.

Didn't GM Frigidaire have a wash-arm in one of their later dishwashers that had a double rotating wash arm like that? I really like that Smeg, it's quite pretty!
I recall a GE I'd say from the '90s that had 2 small rotating arms on the main was arm. I always thought it was an interesting concept, was tempted to replace the wash arm in my then GE with one of those but never did.
I'm confused about the SMEG. Is this designed to fit under the sink? It indicates it's 22" tall and 33" wide, seems that would fit in a sink base unit. Though, when I do kitchens I cheat the sink base and use the space elsewhere.

AEG/Electolux also features an extra-wide dishwasher.
Cute, but these shallow, single rack machines would be useless in my kitchen. However, if you don't cook, and just use a few dishes a day, it might fit the bill.
I love the tiny spray arm for the cutlery tray! That's just too cute on the AEG.
I can see where these would be useful for very small rooms. I was watching a home-buying show on HGTV the other night where a woman was buying an apartment in Hong Kong and ended up with a 450 square foot apartment (for $450,000!) and I was most upset with the lack of space for appliances - these small dishwasher would have been perfect, under the hotplate!

I fell in lust with a SMEG oven when I was doing my kitchen over years ago. Back in the 40's!
But you couldn't get them into the country and the electronics were all trained for 50 cycle 220V. So the timers would have been KAwonky! Even the temp. sensing would have been Kawonky because of the clock governing the sampling rate and not to mention those European Celsius Degrees are much bigger than our Fahrenheit Degrees! Cakes would have been destroyed in that oven over here!
Christmas would be ruined!
But that looks like a nice "dish!" washer; but would it take bowls and pots?? You could have a talltub for that and this right next to the sink for your evening dishes.

Yes Frigidaire had the counter rotating arms on the lower arm..one on each end in the early to mid 70's, and yes to GE which did the same thing in the 90's as well. The GE profile that was installed in the house I am in in Florida had the little jobbers too but what good was it when they still had that anemic power tower for the top rack? And it took a long time to wash and was noisy with that cheap old fashioned motor it had hanging down below. That machine came out like a day or two after the movers got here with my KDS18 and KDC21 that we took with us from NY. I did leave a 22 series in the main kitchen and a kenmore in the basement Kitchen for the new owners.And our Neptune front loader too! (dammit!)
One item of interest on the frigidaire units above.. My aunt had on in Suncity Az that was installed in 1973 and it cleaned the dishes like all get out. Did an excellent job.That was in 1976 when I saw it in action. Then I visited my aunt and Uncle in Santa Fe and they had bought the same unit which had the extra arms too based on the performance of the 1973 unit. 3 yars later and their machine could clean anything off the dishes no matter what cycle was selected.
The only difference between the two machines was the fact that the they redesigned the lower rack on the newer one to take more dishes and made the spacing of the times closer to add maybe 1 or 2 more place settings??? There just wasnt enough space for the water to do its job. If you underloaded the unit it cleaned fantastic.

That's 30 cm more worth of space inside and is taller too in respect of a single rack of a standard machine even if there is only one rack plus stuff holders on the sides... plus the machine has a "strong&fast" programme that CLEANS in only 50 minutes!

Stainless steel racks and lights inside?? I have to have one! There's plenty of room for a nice, big window in that door, what were they thinking not having one?

Not at all, they're fairly priced I believe!
The STO903 (one with gray racks and not stainless steel) costs only 799 euros (1180$). STO905 (stainless steel racks, otherwise identical) is 910 euros (1350$)
