My boss,Pete owns lots of different properties here and lots of people know him and have for decades. There is an older woman, Linda Beech,who is 85 years old and even though she's a real sweetheart to me, she isn't that way to all. Linda has property in the Vallry (YPO) and has been there since 1974. It is a nice place but,there have been many people who have nowhere to live that have taken advantage of her and stolen jewelry,money and food, had drug parties and damaged her differnt buildings there. two folks who are husband and wife, Bill and kay, have become her caretakers (not care givers) and spent thousands of dollars on her food,shelter,hardwrae for major repairs,prescripton drugs for Linda ( she takes morphene and another real popular,addictive pain killer),and paid all the delinquent bills she never paid out of their own pockets.Never being paid back as of yet.linda treats them like they're slaves and have to bow down to her every whim.They have a 4 wheel drive Toyota truck that has to be driven up and down the steep cliff as well as across four different rivers to get to and from her property. They have to keep the intruders away and deal with folks linda has befriended but does not know of their crack addictions.The rats and other varments that intrude leave lots of messes and distruction.Linda does not understand that,if you have pets,you don't want to put things like rat poison around the house.cats will go after the rats and get poisoned,eventualy dieing.
Linda is attempting to write a book. Iit's an autobigraphy about her life as an actress/comedian in the Japanese life she lived during World War II and as a Psychologyst afterward.during that time in her life,she was spoiled by most miliitary men she met as well as many Asian folk who'd litteraly squat and strain whenever she said "shit" to them. That's the service she is expecting from those who work for her.Even though they have yet to be paid for their services.
linda is now staying here because Pete and his side kick/girlfriend,Sheryl, have excepted linda's offer of $50,0000 to anybody who can successfully help her finish her book.Sheryl has been taking Linda to her place to relaxe as she helps to get the many chaters going but decided to take the Memorial Day Weekend and join Pete in YPO.After that was over,on the following Tuesday, i had to come back to work and Sheryl went to see if Linda wanted to join her and Pete in the valley till today. I was there and heard Linda say she wanted to stay home.not go anywhere. I went to see bill and Kay to find out when they wanted to get together and go to Kona or Hilo. while we talked,Sheryl talked Linda into comming with us , unbenounced to me and litteraly dropped Linda off here instead of YPO and I had no clue Linda was staying here until the next day after 1PM when linda came to my desk asking me if I could refill her tanks that were evidently empty. Me ,being the only one here, am not supoposed to leave the office unattended. I had to go down three flights of steap stairs,grab the two empty 10 gallon tanks and carry them all the way up to refill. Empty,they weigh about 70 pounds. full,they weigh about 160 pounds.One of them had a bad valve and I had to find another one to replace it. That took an hour and I had to use a 5 gallon because we were out of the 10 gallon ones.After all that and finishiing up for the day,I had to cancel my swimming and make her dinner. I was not too upset but,she kept me there three hours to help her do petty bullshit.
The next morning, I had to make her coffee and feed her breakfast. This is all supposed to be done by Pete and Sheryl since they're both the ones who commited themselves to her and her book,not me. I have my own life and am not going to be a slave to anyone.Linda's dream(she actuly told me this) is to have two young girls from either Tiwan or Tebet do all her cooking,cleaning and bathe her twice a day,all her mending and chores for $4/month. They'll stay in one of her bamboo shacks and no children or boyfriends are allowed.That's how Bill and kaye are feeling she's trying to do to them.
I'm friiends with all of them and feel right in the middle of it all. They already had one meeting where all five of them congregated to talk and linda insisted I be there. Pete told her flat out that I already requested not to become the middle man.What a friiging mess.
