For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by washing machines. I could wash clohtes all day everday, it's all I wanted to do. I've never really grown out of it (although I do other hobbies other than washing clothes! haha). I always thought i was the only one with this weird obsession. Guess not!

A warm welcome Jed, you are going to love it here. Isn't it amazing that we all thought we were the "only" ones who could ever be interested in washing machines?

And Then There's the Laundry Shark!...

With a flip of his tail, and whagging of his fins, does a great tidal wave splash and perfect roll overs, turn overs, Frigidaire pulsations, Kelvinator crunches, and dual-action manipulations, even in the wide open sea! LOL! Seriously, the sounds of washing machines on my computer *or in real life,* make for great relaxation therapy. Welcome aboard, Jed! And many happy suds returns to you.--Laundry Shark

Laundrophile Philosophy

I have this theory, that washing machines have some alchemy when they combine electricy, water, chemicals from the earth and our second skins(clothing) that has some sort of transformative value that only few see beyond the task, and even fewer see the beauty.

Welcome Jed!

Welcome to the world-wide washer's heaven on-line, Jed!
Wishing you tons of heavy soiled, bad smelling whites to be done and changed into tons of snow-white, lovely smelling, shiny whites - throughout your life!
And endless hours of listneing to the lovely sound of a running washer!

BTW: Toggleswitch, you are sooo right in saying so!!1 lol

Welcome, Jed!

Just FYI, I just finished washing and ironing four loads of laundry using a 1970s-vintage Maytag washer and dryer, plus a GE steam-and-surge iron from around 1967 or so.

I have vacuuming to do next- that will happen using a 1967 Electrolux Model L vacuum cleaner.

Once I start dinner, I will open cans with a 1966 Sears Best hand-cranked can opener, and cook using my Farberware aluminium-clad cookware, ranging in age from 1949 through the 1970s. I will probably listen to music on 8-track while I cook, or maybe some 78s. Dessert may get whomped up in my 1971 Sunbeam Mixmaster.

After dinner and a vintage movie, I'll happily toddle off to Dreamland, to be awakened tomorrow morning by a 1964 Westclox Big Ben.

You are so not the only one!

I started using my moms Maytag when i was about six or seven. I still get excited seeing the magic a clothes washer can create!

Welcome!

Ralph:

I forgot to mention the houseful of Danish Modern furniture!

BTW, I do smoke, but no cocktails. Let's just say that I have a long-standing friendship with a guy named Bill W.
