Okay - so a few weeks ago I had a slight problem with Menards.

Was picking up some plumbing items and went out back. Their stood a lone LAT9800 series Maytag from the mid 90's. I thought - this is a GREAT washer for my parents. Mom had been complaining about the A806 and figured this would be a good replacement.

Paid the 9 dollars, went home, got the truck, and went back to find that the ONLY machine they had on hand, had been sold twice. First to me, then again to the person who picked it up before I got back.

Now, I didn't want to put bad kama upon the store or myself, so I let it go. Good thing.

So - the latest treasures to bestow the used appliance section:

Not sure if this is WCI material or the real GM deal - but I left it behind. The clowns who unloaded it turned this mint DW into a small scrap pile by crushing the bottom frame - thus poping the door track completely out. Shame too, was pretty clean.

2nd - green with envy Hotpoint

So, there were actually TWO of these Hotpoints there - very strange looking dishwashers. Very similar to the all digital 80's GE that is living in the basement now, but with a porcelain tub. Passed.

A Sudsy 308

This little darling was quite the gem. Very clean, nice, and you could tell the previous owner's took very good care of it. Unfortunately there just isn't enough room in the world to save them all.

What is that BEAST of a GE behind it?

Funny thing...

So I saw the machines, and thought, well if the lens was there I'd pick up the dryer. Walked back to the car, grabbed the camera to take the photos, and started looking around for the lens.

BINGO!

She sure was a mint machine before Menards got their early 20's something hands on her. All the dents, two small rust spots on the top, and the cracked lens certainly happened during the 10 foot stroll from the delivery truck to the ground. Oh well, I've never seen one of these locally, and doubt I will again anytime soon.

Will look nice next to the three-speed GE of similar control panel, once cleaned up.

I will say - the doors on these things are ridiculous! Once I get some juice to her later this weekend, I'll post a shot of the lit drum and panel. Till then,

Ben

She didn't like the 806?? I FRICKEN LOVE THE 806!!

I second that!!

Must be something wrong with it.....

Frigidaire Dishwasher!

This is a nicely styled dishwasher. But it is a WCI - I can tell because if it were GM it would say built by GM. Can you take a interior picture. Also the Hotpoint is a mid 70's dishwasher with GE internal mechanics. It was one of the first ones made after the real Hotpoints went out. We had one like this but only with a few more selections. It cleaned good. The normal cycle had 7 water changes. Nothing like that today.
Thanks for posting
Peter

this sounds like a stupid question but does Menards sell there trade ins???
i wish more places would. I know Sears in st.louis will give them away if you ask nicely

Hmm, appliances for the soon-to-be wwealthy. That Hotpoint dishwasher was the same dishwasher friends of mine had in their first house they bought. the kitchen also had a Hotpoint equivalent of the Americana double oven hi/lo range. Incidentally, they had the exact same harvest gold hemnore set that was for sale (linked earlier). This family went on to be one of the foundeers of a very successful PC manufacturer in Houston, their first being a "luggable" portable IBM-clone. The 7000 sq. ft. house they built had a GSD2800 DW, double self-cleaning GE 30" wall ovents, 6-burner Jenn-aire cooktop, GE microwave, ice machine, GE Fridge, and 2-speed ex-large capacity late 1988 Maytag with auto-dry non-electronic control gas dryer in almond.
