So much for my new LG washer p.o.s.

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

We've had a

Samsung 4.5 cu. ft. F.L. for just over a year and so far so good! It is assembled in South Carolina, rinses well, spin rinses three times on normal or heavy duty, bedding, perma press, quick wash, etc. I only need to use medium spin for a large load. My dryer still is done in under 38 minutes on normal medium.
Odly, the steam option doesn't make the door as warm as using HOT without steam. If you first slect HOT, then steam, the temp indicator drops one cooler.

I spent the last couple of days really studying LG again. I want a washer that uses the heater for many cycles. On my current one, it uses the heater as default on allergen, whites, heavy duty, bulky/bedding, and also cotton sheets (which is whites without extra rinse an calls for warm water. And with every one of those cycles I can select sanitize temperature. And I can also select steam option, which gradually heats wash water from cool to warm for warm wash and from warm to hot, allergene, or sanitize temps. My Normal cycle is the energy star designated cycle and with steam option it only heats as hot as 120 degrees. And none of these cycles have specified weight limits and it just gauls me that's not the case with LG front loaders. LG says white loads should be limited to 15 pounds. Most load I do on my whites cycle are well beyond that amount. I've also started using my Precision Disepnse for A YEAR AND A HALF. It automatically adjust dosage basedupon how hard you water is as well as cycle, soil level, and load size. The new LG WM4500, you have to set the dispenser for what you believe is your average load. Then if you run a load that's smaller or much larger, then the user has to make adjustments. Plus my Whirlpool has fan fresh that circulates air to keep from mold forming when I cannot get to the load for up to 18 hours. To say I'm spoiled by the flexibility and command I have over my laundry and the flexibility is an understatement and LG doesn't come close to that. I'm appalled LG doesn't offer hotter temps or steam for their towels cycle nor for their perm press cycle. I have that ability on my machine for those cycles too. And I like Turbowash by LG. But ... Current Whirlpools/Maytags still offer all this flexibility. I have demanding laundry issues at times and my washer is the only washer I've ever owned that is so impressive. I learned to do laundry when I was young by the Lady Kenmore/Whirlpool way and that holds the standard for me how to do laundry to this day.

If I had an LG, the only cycle I would use was whites and adjust temp and speeds possibly Bulky/Bedding and Heavy Duty to get the heater supplement. Their new AI-enabled models specify tumble patterns are altered based upon what it senses for the type of load it has in it on Normal (but not heavy soil level) and Whites.

It will be fixed, it's still in it's warranty. I'm pissed off that it may take weeks, covid or not, it's not acceptable. Two authorized service repair places in an area of near half a million people . Costs must be too high in So. Korea, that's probably why they moved production to Vietnam to keep profits up.

Things may be looking up.  I called LG again today after not hearing back and managed to get them to get me an appointment for this Monday. However the repair place being 60 miles away I had my doubts and called the said repair place myself after hanging up with LG... Glad I did because they said they only come here on Tues and Thurs and so they booked me in for Tuesday.  Saying they would call in the morning etc etc , I told them  that no matter what, if I miss the call, I will be here all day and they are to show up.. I also ask them to make a note to whomever is coming that I have gone through all the proscribed fixes per the manual and by LG, and that drum is spinning freely , just in case that means anything.. Still in all , my bets are the repair person shows up and will "have to order a part" That seems to be the way things go these days..but ya never know..... hope I have not jinxed it now.  Fingers crossed.

Order part then come back!

Yep - first trip is never usually the trip where it gets fixed.

I think it was the 2nd year of owning my duet that the board went out. At that time, he wasn't sure what the problem was because it was F/DL...he figured it was the door latch, since that's what the code means, only, it was NOT the door latch because he came first trip, ordered a new door latch, came back days later, installed it......Same same same. Make another appointment and it's the control board (I can't remember which one) but once he put that new board in, nothing has gone wrong since. The thing with me is that I was able to use my washer throughout the oreal. If it threw an error, I would just hit the top of it hard with fist and it would work for a few loads until it did it again.

It's so funny becuase I remember thinking that my washer is a lemon and is going to give me trouble and I regretted buying it. But after that, now almost 16 years, nothing has gone wrong. LOL
