Solinoid Cycle Change

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think WP/KM is the only make that ever had a perf tub with a one-way drive motor and tranny, with solinoid-controlled cycle changes. Every other perf tub I know changes from agitation to spin via reversing motor (sadly, even the later WP/KM). Solinoid changes seemed to be more popular with solid tubs (which made WP/KM unique during their belt-drive days).

Personally, when it comes to WP, I like the old "woo-woo-woo-woo" better than today's "thunka-thunka-thunka-thunka."

I also can only fantasize what it would have been like if WP ever had a solid tub. Would it have actually gone to lengths to create a neutral drain somehow? Maybe a mechanical straw would shoot into the tub after agitation period ends! LOL!

Joe, thanks for all the pictures of your machines, Your Frigidaires are well taken care of. Thanks again arthur/alr2903

SOLID TUB WITH NEUTRAL DRAIN

Blackstones first three automatics all through the1950s had solid tubs with neutral drain. they were the models 150-250-350 the bendix rubber tub washers would also be neutral drain although they didn't spin at all they sucked the water out the bottom pulling the tub in against the clothes.

And of course, the requisite wild agitation shot

Have a nice luncheon, everyone! Throw your soiled napkins into the insane Blackstone Turbulence ;-> YAY
