Hey all!

Happy 2012 to everyone, a few days into it....

Funny thing happened today, that went better than I expected, but as some know and I've mentioned on here before, I keep most of my machines in two spots in our company warehouses. The space allocated to me is nearly full, and I don't want to push my luck with the company's hospitality. My boss said "Have you counted how many machines you have"?!? I think he was thinking "borderline hoarder". Indeed...

He didn't say I had to get rid of any, only that he thought I was going to leave and go into the washer business full time. He was joking, but point taken. I have a lot of washers and I'll probably not dig into all of them, at least not properly. So I may as well start working on thining the supply so some can go out the way they came in - in the hands of a collector or two (or ten as it may be).

So, without being properly armed with pictures, I thought I'd mention a few things that I have, which I know need to go to other homes:

1) First, I have about 20 1980s Whirlpools. A few are standard capacity, manual filter models, many are LA7680s, which are called 'Supreme' on the panels. I want to keep one standard, and one large capacity, and that's it on the WPs. The rest are open to speaker-uppers.

2) I have a lot of 1980s Kenmore black panel machines. I mean a lot. In fact, I have 9 of one model alone, in four colors - white, almond, gold, and toast.

3) I have a couple 1983 model Lady Kenmore washers.

4) In more vintage items, I have a 1965 Whirlpool two speed, two cycle machine that I've owned for nearly 20 years. It needs a timer. I also have a 1972 Lady Kenmore set in Coppertone that were in service until 2009/2010. I have a 1969 Kenmore 700 in white, and a 1967 Kenmore concealed console pair (the ones where the console cover slides to hide the controls).

5) I have a nearly unusued 1965 Kenmore 800 dryer, gas. I have a very well used 1963 Kenmore 600 dryer too.

There are more as well. Rather than take a bunch of pictures and hear a lot of "Oh if only I were closer" yada yada, I thought I would post this on here, and see if there is any genuine interest.

Most of the 1980s machines are direct from the Phoenix area and are absolutely rust-free, and often low use snow-bird machines. I know some need repairs, some probably do not. As of right now these machines are un-repaired, though I can fix a few during the year, etc. My time is limited.

If anyone is interested, please e-mail me on the site. That is the best way to reach me as I cannot check hotmail during the day. You can try my hotmail account ([email protected]) however I don't check that daily. You can always reply in this thread of course as well. My aim is to thin the duplicates and get some folks some good belt-drives. The clean, unrusted nature of the Arizona machines is wonderful if you've ever dealt with rusty machines. Most all I have I rescued from a krusher somewhere....

In most cases, all I want for these is what I have in them, which is anywhere from nothing to $50 or so for transportation. I did buy a few sets, but let me know anything you may be interested in, and we can discuss. Ask for specific pics and I will gladly take them.

Thanks! All the best in 2012 to everyone!

Gordon

Well... what timing ..

Hi Gordon,

Are any of your machines a sudsaver/ sudmiser model?

Other than that: all of these sound intersting to me:

4) In more vintage items, I have a 1965 Whirlpool two speed, two cycle machine that I've owned for nearly 20 years. It needs a timer. I also have a 1972 Lady Kenmore set in Coppertone that were in service until 2009/2010. I have a 1969 Kenmore 700 in white, and a 1967 Kenmore concealed console pair (the ones where the console cover slides to hide the controls).

Send me details when you can! Love the sound of the 1967 CC set!

Hi Scott -

I do have some sudsavers. I have five or six, and only want two of them. What are you looking for?

I get pics of the '67s tomorrow. Washer needs bearings badly. I should be able to do that, barring any complications.

Thanks again...I am off to a late gym workout.

Thanks for the return message

Hi Gordon,
Thanks a bunch! Being a new guy here, I thought I have to wait years to find a good set or even a single suds machine ... now a week later ... oppurtunity knocks! LOL maybe send me a list of what is available ...and I can go from there. My Nanny had a mid 60's WPSS and My aunt had a mid 60's Kenmore SS ... a match to one of those is what I'm really looking for in a sudsaver model =).

Send pictures when you can =)
I had emailed you earlier in the day once I had seen your collection! How funny is that! You can email me back if that is easier than posting ..either way works.

Scott, I think I can probably speak for Gordon (since he's busy "sweatin to the oldies" at the gym) when I say: It may be possible to generate a list of everything he has (suffice it to say, there are A LOT (well over 50+) however that would be A LOT of work. It would be best if you can help him by narrowing down with the approximate year and if possible, the model you are looking for.

As you can see from the three photos he's posted, there is a LARGE number to choose from.

Gordon,
I am in a need of a Vintage whirlpool Washer. It's sounds like you have just what the Dr. ordered... I am just down the road from in Atlanta and could be up there this weekend while I go pick up a quarter Panel for my Mustang. I will try to E-Mail you on the address you gave me on this thread...

Could you takesome Photos of the Older Whirlpool machines inside and out..

thanks

Gordan, I'm hoping that none of these are going to the crusher if u can't get rid of them. I'm desperately wanting an 80's Whirlpool, but the time isn't right yet. My parents won't let me have any more machines (only have 2 but they don't understand what is so neat about them) so hopefully in a few years when I have my own place I can get one.

Also are those kenmores that are all the same model number from the same manufactured year or not?

Gordon,
I tried the Email you posted but I get a bounce back aying the Email does not work... Please advise, I would like to get up there possibly friday If I can..

Some replies all at once...

Scott - thanks for the call last night. We can talk tonight.

Bruce / Supersurgilator - the Kenmores seen in the pictures are from 1976 to 1986. Could some be going to a crusher? I hope not, but as with many collectors here, if I had to quickly reduce the lot, you never know. I would probably try to find a rebuilder who wants them first, but that may be tough.

1966_Mustang - my hotmail is working fine. I sent a test message yesterday and did not get the same return message. Please try again [email protected]

Bobby - No, sorry, I have nothing from the 50s. I have one '56 but it is spoken for by Robert in Roanoke.

Rex - When you can figure out transportation, let me know! There are options out there at UShip.com if you are seriously interested.

THANKS everyone for contacting me and for your level of interest!

Gordon

Rex – tolivac:
If you are willing to make the drive to Charlotte to pick up a machine from Gordon, you can RENT a pickup truck or cargo van from Enterprise Rent-a-Car. That’s what I did many times until I bought my own truck.

I checked their website and they have 3 locations in Greenville. Two of the three locations (not at the airport) have both pickup trucks and cargo vans for $50.25 per day, incl tax (plus insurance). FYI, it’s very easy to load a machine into a van thru the side doors, especially when parked at a curb!

While everyone differs on how far they’re willing to go to get a washer/dryer, I’ve driven 5 - 6 hours each way (Phoenix, AZ and Sacramento, CA) a handful of times and 8 hours each way (Tucson, AZ) once. Hell, I’ve even driven to Phoenix AND BACK in the same day, TWO different times, a 12-13 hour trip!! (Those 5 hour energy things are great!) It looks like Greenville ~ Charlotte is “only” about 4.5 hours each way, so not too bad if you REALLY want it.

So… rental for 2 days $100.50 (+ insurance)
Gas for 500 miles @ 19 mpg X $3.40 per gallon (just a guess) = $92
So for approx $200 you can go pick it up yourself.
I don’t know how much a shipper would cost, but I would have to guess… more.

I hope this helps give you options to get a machine (or two?) from Gordon!

Sorry I missed you

Hi Gordon,

Sorry I missed you last night. Is there a better time to call and chat? I can try during the day if I have a breaking point in my schedule.

Thanks!
scott
