Pretty much everyone at my wife' work knows how much an appliance freak I am. One of the ladies told my wife that they were going through her great aunt' house and that it was loaded with old stuff and specifically mentioned there was a pre-'70s washer and dryer in the basement. Of course I jumped on it and even roped Christfr into going with me to help load it. I always get my hopes up and usually end up disapointed....this time wasn't any different. The dryer was definitely 'mid 60's and was an RCA/Whirlpool gas model. Excellent shape and when I tried it out it started right up and even the burner lit without a problem. It was actually pretty cool but we couldn't take it with us because the gas hadn't been shut off and there wasn't any way to disconnect the gas line. The washer turned out to be an LA model Maytag washer....too new for my tastes......so Christfr took it for his neice.......

But anyway, as we were going through the basement I ran across this Sunbeam mixer that was going to be tossed in the trash. I could have died right there on the spot. Throw away a perfectly good mixer and an old one to boot. FOR SHAME!!! The pic below is after I cleaned it up and put a couple coats of wax on it. When I got the can of wax out my wife asked what the hell I was going to do with it. I told her and for some reason she just started laughing hysterically. Doesn't everyone wax their appliances? Maybe I'm the only one, who knows........lol

would anyone be able to give me an idea of the year of this Sunbeam? Model # V564710.

My Mom inherited that same Mixmaster from her Aunt Helen in 1975, so I'm guessing somewhere between 1950-55. The reason being my cousin Marvel worked for the electric co. during that time, and she was able to buy small appliances at cost through them.

Does anyone juice oranges or grapefruits anymore? A lost art.

I wax my refrigerator several times a year. Also my canister set (I don't know why, but my OL always did!)

Mark, to have everything in such pristine shape, including the juicer bowl, is pretty rare. and, ahem, tell your lovely wife, there used to be Jubilee wax which the homemaker used to wax her appliances and other surces in the kitchen and throughout the house when appropriate. Kept them looking brand new!!!

Here's the history on it... Ths website is probably the best one covering the history of the Mixmaster and all the models so go back to the very first page after and have a good read.

btw the model # is found by removing the mixer from the stand and looking underneath where the cord goes into the mixer

I also at first thought this was a model 9, but on closer inspection I believe it's actually a model 10, which is shown on the next page of the link. The 10 lacks the motor housing extension that the 9 has. The 10 is my favorite model Mixmaster.

Mark, lovingly remind your wife she should be grateful you are out chasing appliances instead of other skirts lol--well maybe it's okay to look under skirts of appliances though. lol

Ahh ok, now that I know where the real model number is...lol ...it's actually a model 10A1......the number that was mentioned in the first thread was a number that I found on the side of the motor housing.

We couldn't believe it. My mom has her mom's old sunbeam which is a lot older than this one here. Haven't been able to pry that one from my mom's fingers yet but the grip is loosening.....lol

I did though get my mom to let loose of her '59 Imperial Frigidaire stove. I will post some pictures when I go get it.

Actually my wife still does when she makes lemon shake ups and lemonaide. She can't wait to try the juicer attachment.

Now don't forget that you must oil those Mixmasters occasionally depending on use. The website may have instructions but the 4 oiling points are all on top.. slide the handle downwards and you'll see two. A key shaped one and a round one.. a couple of drops of sewing machine oil in each,,also on top towards the mixfinder guide is another oiling hole.. two drops there... then one or two drops down the PTO port on top.
