Here is a photo of what my main mixer collection looked like last year before I started packing it up in preparation for a move that never happened.
Pete - check out the Dormeyers (including a very old 'Trojan' model from the 30's) on the top right hand side of the photos.
I have been looking for a new home for them for over a year now and I am just not finding what I want. There has to be room for the turquoise range and refrigerator and the recently-acquired GE dishwasher as well...

Nice collection

Paul very nice collection You have there and You have given me some ideas how to display my collection

Skip...

Thanks, Skip!

Yeah, I never would have thought that bookcases from Home Depot would be so useful! Make sure you bolt 'em to the wall though...

Paul that is a fantastic collection. How long have you been working at it? Just wondering if you could tell me what model Dormeyer the 4th one on the top shelf from the right is? That is the very first mixer I remember my mom having. Three speeds if I remember correctly. Great display, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Terry! I have been at it for nearly 10 years now - to think it all started with a Sunbeam model 11... That Dormeyer you spotted is a Model 3000. They are indeed a 3-speed model, but you just can't beat them (pun intended!!).
Thanks for sharing your first mixer memories, too.

Let me guess - you bought it on eBay!

Hey Veg, don't you hate it when that happens?? I think there is nothing more disappointing than finding a cool working piece that seems to be in great condition and when it gets to you it is smashed to bits... Oy, I could write a book...

Great collection! And I also love that pink dirty clothes hamper in the bathroom, at the side! It looks like something that could've been bought with trading stamps!

Speaking of

Paul that is so true about things coming in the mail broken every mixer I bought off ebay and it was sent thru the postal service either the bowls were broken in a million pieces or the control knob was broken to bits beyond repair, it took 4 times at getting one of my knapp monarchs in without the control knob being broken but on the 4th one I did insist that the seller ship it UPS and finally it arrived safe and sound.

Skip, the same thing happened to me for 2 KM Speed-Mix models as well! I guess they are just not meant to be shipped...

About the pink hamper - I think that's exactly where the former owner of the house got everything that was in the place when I bought it! The dishes, lamps, you name it, were all things that I remember seeing in the Steinberg's <pinky> stamp books when I was a brat. Steinberg's were a grocery and department store chain here in Eastern Canada but went bust in the early 90's... Forgive my rambling!

But, dude, before you do the rest of the rooms

do a close up of your "oldest" "Chicago Flexible Shaft & Spline Company " mixer first. A beautiful, and beautifully
displayed collection you have!!!! Yipee!!!

What a great looking collection!!!

Thanks, Paul, for sharing it. I love mixers and have been collecting them for about a year or so. They can be so much fun and nostalgic to use. What are some of your favorite mixers?

Rich

Hi Paul, WOW what a great collection. You must have been collecting for quite a while now, and I just love how you have them all displayed. Displaying and using one's collection is as fun as finding the stuff.

I love my Sunbeam Mixmasters myself, I received a 1956 model 11 in 1989 as a birthday present and I have never mixed with anything else since. I have three of them now. This weekend I made my favorite potato salad recipe using my favorite recipe for homemade mayonnaise from the sunbeam owners manual. It's Sunbeam delicious! YAY for YUM!

Sounds great Robert, so do you use olive oil or salad oil. Have never had homemade mayo does it taste much different?

Paul, thanks for sharing the information on the Dormeyer! Yes, just seeing it did bring back some great memories. I used that mixer to make my very first batch of chocolate chip cookies!

home made mayo

is tasty Terry, I've never made it with a Mixmaster though, but with a blender I have. Its very easy!

Robert I grew up with a model 11 Sunbeam, my mother got one for a wedding present in 1955!

Ohhh I love homemade mayo Terry, but its naughty (no fat free Miracle Whip here LOL)! I've used both types of oil, but when I use Olive Oil I find it best to make it 24 hours ahead of time and put it in a jar in the refrigerator. The flavor is much better after it has a chance to chill and sit overnight. The thing I like about using Olive Oil is that when you make a tuna salad or potato salad it has a slight taste of green olives which I really like.

What a great collection of mixers Paul. See many of the Sunbeam colors, do you have the green one? How about any Kenwoods and Brauns? I'm saying to myself "I'm not collecting mixers, I'm not collecting mixers" but they multiply regardless. LOL In fact I saw one the other day out in a little hamlet I went thru on the bike, not far from here and I've half a mind to go grab it but for the life of me at the moment I can't think of the name.. K something. There's also a very good little junktique place near here who seems to have mixer bowls and juicer attachment bowls galore as well as a few old Westinghouse and Dormy mixers in various states. No colored bowls though or I'd have grabbed them.
And it looks like you have an old Sunbeam 2 speed blender there on the shelf that uses the similar jar to the mixmaster but slightly different base.

Wow, what a nice response to my post! I wish I had more photos to share but alas, the collection is packed up and I am anxiously seeking a new home for them. I may just be able to get a couple of the current kitchen - I won't be shutting that down 'till I find a new house.
In the meantime, the oldest Sunbeam is an 'M4J' from the early 1930's; I don't have any Brauns or Kenwoods - yet!; I do have a couple of green Sunbeams, if Turquoise and Avocado count; the mayo recipe is the one I use all the time too - I just love the recipes out of the old appliance cookbooks!
I am so glad to have made the 'e-quaintance' with you all - I am looking forward to sharing the saga of the restoration of the GE 1959 Princess dishwasher I just acquired too. I was inspired by the story of the 1957 Lady Kenmore rescued from her exile in South Dakota! I am going to be out of town for the next few days, but I vow to return with more pix and hopefully news of finding a new house.

Wow! And I thought I was running out of room!

Paul,
Your collection is amazing! I just looked at your first photo for about 10 minutes!
I also love your blenders to the left!
Do you use them all? I know that is a stupid question, but I just picture you baking lot's!
Very nice! And everything looks so darn clean!!!!
Thanks for the photo's!
Brent

Chromeys are nice. I saw a beautiful one today the earlier model Mixmaster Junior in chrome but they wanted too much for it.. Also, there's a beautiful copper early MM junior on Ebay right now... also has a buy it now price of $59 I think, but it looks to be pristine.

Hobart Model N

This is my latest addition to my Mixer collection and now that I have it, It's the only mixer I want to use now, usually after I get a new mixer in and use it a couple of times I start to switch them around to run them all but now I just want to use this only now
