...to complete a set,or just 'cause they want it! Whirlpool model#91820 serial#3769.Was plugged in and working when I picked it up.Looking for $50.00,or something close,or else I'll try EBay. Any takers? BTW,the tag says mfd by the 1900 corporation,of St Joseph,MI.a forerunner to Whirlpool?
I have the matching washer for this dryer if anyone is interested. It will need restoration as I don't collect Whirlpools. I just didn't want it to go to the crusher.
Yup, that's the very first Whirlpool dryer, from the late 40's a very nice and rare find. It seems the first Kenmore washer and dryer are slighly less rare than the first Whirlpool for some reason.
At the Whirlpool site they show a picture in their time line-approx 1947- of what looks like the mate to this dryer and it says that they were making Kenmore washers before they made their Whirlpool brand washer. Glen
Interesting that the 1900 Corporation made automatics for Sears for a year before that introduced their first; this must explain why older Kenmore automatics are a little easier to find.
Since they use the belt-drive design, are many parts still available that fit these early machines?
