wheres the powder go ?

Hi. the powder goes in the drum for prewash and the powder for main wash goes into compartment in top of door porthole, theres a water inlet in top of door boot and one in back of drum. The same method as used on Indesit Moon, but this probably works.Good find and looks to be in good shape for its age.Enjoy regards Nige.

Hi Eddy.

Here is a piccy of the drum as requested.

The Which magazine report states that the 'spinning effieciency' is 'very poor'!

Understandable really, bearing in mind its only a 400rpm machine with, as you mention, hardly any holes in the drum.

Wash performance is described as only 'fair'. Again understandable as the drum lifters are very shallow.

Anyways...

Hiya Nige.

Hope all is well.
Have you ever had dealings with these machines at all?

Agree that it does seem in good nik for its age. Just need to get a Bendix 7159 Compact to act as a comparison machine. A Candy Heliomatic dryer wouldnt go amiss either.

Aquamatic on the left - Heliomatic on the right.

the view through the door - a bit distorted through the powder chute but, so long as the powder is removed cleanly, should be able to still get a good view of whats going on...

a bit of cleaning still to do, but brushed up rather well.

Good thing I discovered about these machines is that the lid is reversable!

Originally the lid front was a wee bit manky and really needs a respray to get a suitable finish.

In the absence of skill and spray can, I simply put the lid back on the other way around with favourable results...

another Which magazine criticism regards the door opening.

This is as far as the door opens and it does get the way...

Car permitting (dont buy cars with start/stop buttons! the button is an untrustworthy gimmick and, alongwith the clutch switch, is giving me grief) the Candy will be transported to Crewe this weekend to be plugged and plumbed in!

Fingers crossed
Paul
