Something I discovered on Obama

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

My Dear

I read my Bible DAILY. Perhaps you should take a peek. Have you read Obama's book yet? Be EDUCATED BEFORE you speak. He reveals LOTS. Give it a read. Mark

So he "refutes" a couple passages from the bible... this makes him a Muslim?? PLEASE fill me in here, I must be missing something! It is OBVIOUS that one cannot take everything from the bible literally and to apply it directly to today's context, that's just absurd. And it's a moot point anyways, the man is running for political office, what does religion have to do with it?

For Pete's Sake!

BEFORE you all make comments, READ HIS BOOK and you'll see why he made the scriptural comments. Educate yourself. Geez, stupidity reigns here! And no, I'm NOT going to quote passages from his book, etc....READ it yourself! Mark

So amazing....

...that some of the SMARTEST people that I know BELIEVE what the media tells them. EDUCATE YOURSELVES.

Oh I'm terribly sorry

Maybe one day I'll have time to read the book, but you post that video, and with no explanation, claim it makes Obama a Muslim... and expect no one to comment?!?

stupidity reigns here!

[NOTICE]: THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED UNTIL EVERYONE READS THE BOOK :[NOTICE]

I have read his books, listened to nearly 14 hours of his speeches and weekly Senate podcasts to his constituents in IL. You have no basis for your statements, Mark and given that you refuse or, more likely, have no evidence to support your ridiculous claims, then we must assume that this was all in lighthearted fun. Thank you for a good laugh this morning but the root of your joke is deeply troubling.

I'm not naive enough to think that the blanket discrimination of Muslims since 9/11 had hopefully run it's course, but we see that ignorance still prevails with some. It's this very same brand of ignorance that brought the world Bergen-Belsen, Auschwitz, and other "final solutions" throughout history. Let's just try to move beyond this dangerous ignorance and discrimination - for once. It's repulsive.

Duh . . .

Everyone is entitled to his own viewpoint on this, but I don't care whether the president is Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddist, Hindu, etc. etc. What I do care about is having a president who can deal with the mess we're in at the moment with respect to our economic health and relations with other countries. In the last twenty years the world has changed tremendously, and our place in it as well. At the moment, we're not doing too well in dealing with this - just take a look at how our deficit has grown in the last eight years and what has happened to the value of the dollar.

Looking at my own world, my neighbors are Jewish, most of my clients are Jewish, and the two engineers I work with most closely are Christian and Hindu. My last ex-bf and best friend locally is Buddhist, although he was baptized Catholic (his mom is Catholic and his dad is Buddhist), and my bf before that (still a friend too) is Shinto.

I collaborate frequently with a couple of Iranian-born Americans who are Muslim, and I couldn't ask for two more thoughtful and nice people. One is religious, the other isn't, but neither makes an issue of it. On a rare occasion when we did talk about religion, one of them made a point to say that when he was raised in Tehran he knew families who were Sunni, Shiite, Jewish, and Christian, and that his parents would not allow any bad talk about other's religions. Both of these guys are straight and married, but are completely accepting of gay people.

IMHO religion and politics are a bad mix, and viewing other's religions with courtesy and respect and avoiding fearmongering goes a long way.

I have not read Obama's book, but I know this much. George W Bush is a church-going christian. He's also going to go down in history as the WORST, most corrupt president this country has ever experienced, and the one that made a complete mockery of the U.S. constitution.

But I guess he was beyond qualified for the job because he was a christian so what do I know?

What's the title of the book, Mark? Can you give us a brief synopsis of each chapter? Maybe cite some parts of it that back up what you are saying?

After all, you don't want us to buy the book - If you remember, you suggested that we steal copies of it, but that would be against the Ten Commandments (you know - the ones that are in the Bible, that book you read daily)

Some assistance would be really helpful here, since you seem to know so much about it. If you read Obama's book (again, what's that title?) you should be able to tell us all about it.

As for your video: Wow, that narrator must be OLD to have known Christ personally, so much so that he can tell us what Christ's views on the US military are.

wait...

why is it okay to hate every living muslim soul again? i didn't think we were supposed to be making sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people.

seems... un-christian.

ahem.

more info

I think some of you just post to see your nonsense online. And no, like I said before, I'm NOT going to read the book(s) for you. Remember this country was based in concept and law on Judeo Christian beliefs. If this country is so terrible, perhaps China or somewhere would be more appropriate for you. If your comments are like the Democratic party's way of thinking, with no education behind what you're spewing, and the Dems should win, then this country is in BIG trouble. And by the way, I don't believe we were discussing GWBush.....? To help some of you out, I've put the Amazon link to one of his books. OK kiddies, I guess I WILL have to spoon feed you..... and PLEASE don't post further until you can discuss this candidate intelligently.

Non-Christians need not apply

One thing that has been clarified, underscored and settled in this election cycle is that non Christians need not apply. After some initial concern from the right, Romney got a pass because he was adequately Christian to be considered viable.

I find this whole religious litmus testing most unsettling.

I find it interesting...

That one uses this website to sell a rare, highly coveted washing machine - you know, make a buck off of the members...(or upwards of $3251.00 - the last price we were made aware of).

...Then come on and start a thread like this, essentially shitting all over the whole website.

Awesome!

If your comments are like the Democratic party's way of thinking, with no education behind what you're spewing, and the Dems should win, then this country is in BIG trouble.

No but maybe, just maybe fairy tales (snow white), genie magic (blinks), Jesus/God (burns people "he" doesn't like just like an evil monster), and witchcraft (twitches nose) wont matter as much anymore and we can concentrate on REALITY.

Although I do like the idea of going to heaven and getting 72 young virgin boys, so maybe I should become a Muslim?

And further...

rp2813 READ the book. Until then it's just blab.
Greg When I see you, I'm going to smack some sense into you...
but first, I'll have to find the right outfit!
tuthill READ his book.
dalangdon Can't believe you asked what the title to the book was. Lord have Mercy! Even you should be able to Google or something.
mistereric Please come up with something new, instead of the''un-Christian'' blah blah as usual.

If you guys can type, I KNOW you can read. Why don't you want to be educated about whom you are voting for??? I hope you're not going to base your lever pull on what the media tells you. Further I hope you're not going to base your vote on the gay issues. He's NOT our friend. (that you should know from his speeches)

Further I hope you're not going to base your vote on the gay issues.

I most certainly am going to base my vote on gay issues. My biggest concern is to protect my FAMILY and FRIENDS FIRST. While I do not believe that the democrats are going to do much better at protecting us than the republicans, I do believe we stand a slightly better chance under the democrats, ***click*** done.

By the way, my father who is a life long wall-street republican (social liberal, fiscal conservative) is voting for Obama, he said "after this vp choice that was it, no more).

Hey everybody, this is hopeless. I will be ignoring this thread now, with hopes that it will crash to the bottom of the list and go away. Please join me. It isn't worth anyone's keystrokes.

well..

"That one uses this website to sell a rare, highly coveted washing machine - you know, make a buck off of the members...or upwards of $3251.00 - the last price we were made aware of".

and what is wrong with this? As everyone knows, Mark's collection is beyond amazing. If somebody wants to pay $5000.00 for a machine, it is their business. He could have easily sold that machine on Craigslist or eBay instead of offering it here to other club members. I think it was very generous of him to do so.

Hooverwheelaway

The machine (actually there were two) was someone elses that needed to sell it because had bills to pay, and trusted me enough to take care of it for him. Once again, you speak BEFORE you know all the facts. I listed it here so the general public would NOT be able to bid on it, and so that a member would get it and restore and love it. To be quite honest though, I'm NOT surprised you made the comment. But here adain, you DIDN't know any of the facts. All you had to do was ask. Mark

Well, Robert~

I know many many Hillary voters who will not vote Obama. myself included.

I am an American First, a Democrat second.

Just read something interesting...

I'm sure you'll see it too sooner or later... Seems Ms Clinton may have had a change of heart! And Robert if you were in a MUSLIM country, you would be PUT TO DEATH. I'm going with the Republican woman.

I am an American First, a Democrat second.
Well Shane I'm a gay American first, democrat is totally 2nd in my book as well.

And Robert if you were in a MUSLIM country, you would be PUT TO DEATH.
And if many of the hardcore Christians had their way I would at minimum be in jail, if not put to death.

To each his own, no one is going to change anyone's minds here, nor should we even try.

Wow this thread is a hornets nest thats for sure! Robert dahlink....just the 72 virgin boys?...Now you know there has to be at least one or two lying thru their teeth saying they are are a virgin. And besides they are so rare that breaking every one of them in would be a pain *ahem* in the ass so to speak. Now if they are loose as in like"chucking a hotdog down a hallway "loose then I might think twice.
Now I have said my piece and I am going to sashay on outta here for now....

To each his own, no one is going to change anyone's mind

Very True Robert..

Regardless of the outcome of this very polarizing election, many people here who have vehemently disagreed are friends.
I truly hope they can move beyond that. My hope is that we all will not lose sight of what is really important.

I have friends that support McCain, and friends that support Obama. The most important thing we can do is exercise our constitutional right to vote and let the chips fall where they may.
At the end of the day, after all votes are counted, we will all be here because of our love of appliances and vintage collectibles.

Now, on a VERY serious note... Robert, my dear. I just know you could never vote for someone who supports banning phosphates! Obama wants to ban phosphates! LOL! =)~

Robert, I've reached the same conclusion. Just a few months ago McCain had himself surgically attached to Joe Lieberman (pandering to America's major media and AIPAC). But now he needs to pander to the far right, so he picks a running mate he barely even knows and who wants abortion criminalized even in cases of rape and incest. Yikes.
