I will bet you they forgot to remove the long metal shipping bar at the base in the back of the machine.It has to be there during shipping to keep the drum from vibrating and posibly ruining the mechanism.It will cause serious issues if not removed prior to instalation and use of the washer.

Our dogs came running and staring at the computer speakers when I played that video. They definitely did not like the sound! That was truly horrendous!

My pug turned his head with every screech too! There's another video of the same machine by the same person that shows the tub moving when he opens the lid.

That GE washer sounds like its trying to pratice for first violin!Something for junior to practice his violin lessions to!Hope its not on the last legs--"the song of death?"I think the machines owner should get that fixed!I am not an expert on GE washers-but that sounds like serious rubbing that isn't supposed to be!

People put the wierdest things on You Tube

This motor reverses back and forth to agitate. The motor is running but the tub is locked for some reason. What you hear is the motor turning, but the belt isn't. Without knowing more about what lead up to this, its hard to know whats happening for sure.
