I want to extend a big Thank You to fellow VCCC members Akabent (Rick Benedikt) and Elexomarty (Marty Rocha) for their generous hospitality a few weekends ago. (I've been very slow in posting this thread!)
Marty drove over from Palm Springs to spend the day with me during my recent visit to Southern California. Marty and I spent a few fun filled hours perusing the vintage shops in Long Beach. We came across these fablous dressing room doors fashioned out of vintage refrigerator doors. Too cool.
We also found these fabulous vintage sunglasses that suited Marty "to a tee."
After our shopping spree, Marty and I drove over to Rick's home in Westminster, where he treated us to a tour of his home and wonderful collection of vintage and pristine Hoover's and Electroluxes. Rick also played his two antique music boxes. (I don't want to misrepresent his music box collection, so I'll let Rick fill in the details.) He even sent me off with a wonderful parting gift--a beautiful red, round-button, Western Electric wall phone. Yay! Thank you again Rick. It will be a great addition to my growing collection.
After our all too brief visit, we headed off to dinner at Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ on 2nd Street in Long Beach. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it. Delicious. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach.
After dinner, we stopped at Hot Java, a local LGBT hot spot, for coffee. Fabulous.
As you can see, we're all fairly camera shy. Marty was the brave one. I didn't even bring a camera.
The day was over too soon and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. It sure was great to get together with good friends, share some stories, a lot of laughs and our common interest in vacuums, appliances, phones, etc.
One of the great things about this club is the growing network of friends. No matter where your travels take you, there are bound to be fellow club members in the area. Be sure to plan ahead on your next trip.
Again, thank you Marty and Rick. Can't wait to see you both again very soon.
