I have now owned three FL washers which utilize/utilized separate pump motors for their drain functions. Those were/are two Frigidaires and my current machine, an HE3.
In all three cases, when the drain pump motors are energized, they all sound like a thrashing machine, and give normally quiet machines an annoyingly loud whirr whirr whirr, especially when the water has all been pumped out. I realize that this usualy creates a sucking sound, but the noise here is with the pump motor assembly itself.
I have a tough time believing that my experience is unusual, or that manufacturers couldn't do better. It is obvious that the drain motor is poorly balanced and probably the cheapest thing they could find. Hardly a 4-pole, synchronous motor.
