Saw the "Need a grill?" thread, and I thought this might bear mentioning in case anyone will be looking for one anytime.
If you don't remember, my life was turned upside-down (Oh, the DRAMA!!!) when the grill I had for 11 months was starting to pop. So, I went 'a lookin' again! Remember the difference between the coatings on the cast iron grates? One was heavy, like it was dipped, and the other was light, like it was sprayed on?
Well, I saw a few grills still set up at either Blowes or Homo Depot a couple of weeks ago, and there were tiny rust spots on the high spots of the rough castings for the grates! These had the thinner, "sprayed" porcelain. These were brand new, never used (redundant) grates!!! Boy, am I glad I didn't go there! Sure, proper seasoning might have helped, but I use the grill all year 'round and rarely cover it. Moisture, moisture, moisture!
Just a little something that might help someone sometime!! I know y'all helped me last year and this year when I needed it!
