While at the supermarket getting a few things for baking Thanksgiving goodies had a chat with the manager on duty. The man and I go way back so always like to pass a few minutes chit chatting.

Anywho information relayed to the said manager by his higher ups is that Heinz ketchup will be going through a package shrink/downsize.Cannot remember when but thick he said next week.

One does not use ketchup that much, indeed the bottle in one's fridge is there from last summer and probably will need to be chucked soon, but for those that love the stuff it might be wise to stock up.

Instead of the 12 or 13 oz containers of chocolate mix,and other drink mixes-stay with the standard 16 oz-1 Lb container--just go ahead and charge more-I don't mind. This downsizing Rip-Off crap needs to stop.

They have so many different size bottles though. Would never buy it in the classical glass bottle anyways. It is way too expensive that way when you can get 1.5 liters in the jumbo plastic bottle for not much more.

Morning All

Noticed at Fairway the other day that the gallon jugs of Heinz white vinegar look smaller as well. Didn't stop to check but they certainly look smaller than what one is used to seeing.

Everything is being downsized. Each month Consumer Reports shows more and more new entrants. Most persons don't notice until they bring home the "new" package and place it next to a previous purchase.

The only ketchup I try to purchase is the one not made with high fructose corn syrup, but ithas become difficult to find lately.

Five pound sugar bags have almost universally gone over to four. On that score however Domino and others say the former is still produced and it is up to the shop/supermarket chain as to which they will stock.

About the only things not being downsizes are produce and dairy where the weights are mandated by federal and or state laws. Four sticks of butter is still about a pound, a quart of milk is still 32 ounces and so forth.

Maybe not in the US yet, but I noticed the Nestle drum stick ice cream cones only having 3 in a box instead of four. And they are not real ice cream anymore and instead called frozen dessert or frozen dairy dessert. A concoction of very little real dairy cream
