Hi guys!

As of this year, my bro and his wife have moved to a new place. To keep things short, I was successfully able to get them the Speed Queens since they are really the only mechanicals still around these days. They absolutely love them. I was able to perform that water level switch screw adjustment to get the water to fill back where it belongs, and my sister-in-law loves that HOT gives you full hot water now. (Their previous machines were those 2010 Whirlpools with ATC)

It's approximately 2 years old now, but, I want to thank Martin's (Yogitunes) post on showing how to keep the lid switch engaged. I was able to give myself a free show while I did some washing there, haha. I also like that I can easily remove that and put it back to normal, because of my 11-month old niece.

I will say the dryer's lint filter is very interesting. I have never seen one before where you don't physically remove it to clean it, and the SS tumbler drum looks awesome.

I of course still always have preference for my WP DDs, but these machines perform incredibly well.

Dave,
What kind of lint filter is in the dryer that you don't remove it to clean it?
I haven't heard of this kind before.

In the pic of the dryer drum, you apparently remove that small plastic grate, and then just rub out the lint on the screen below.

Dryer

I have this exact set (well, almost exact as my dryer is gas), and that lint screen in the dryer is not my favorite feature.  The grate insert lifts out and the lint can be removed, but "stuff" gets past the lint screen.  When I see build up below the filter, I remove the hex-head fastener that is visible on the right side of the screen, remove the actual screen, and vacuum out what I can reach with my vacuum and crevice tool.

BTW, it's time to do that again here.

I don't know who ever watched The Big Bang Theory, but the laundryroom in that show is completly equipped with SQ washers and dryers. In one episode, Sheldon has to clean the lint filter of one dryer and he can actually lift it out. As Penny walks in he further mentions how many dryerfires are caused by lint each year.
Just a side fact I thought I could mention.

they could not go wrong with that set.....most likely the last one they will ever buy....

not all of them came with that grate over top, mine didn't have it, and I don't think it was screwed down either...

I did nothice it on the newer versions.....but still just as easy to take the whole filter out to clean, and run under hot water once in a while...

I had thought maybe the grate was to keep items from getting stuck on there while tumbling, but then I noticed there is one attached to the door itself. *shrugs* Doesn't really matter though, since it is such an easy step.

what that grate actually helps with, is when unloading, your clothes will drag across and pick up lint, sometimes the whole layer, and get all over the clothing....common thing with these front mount types, if the actual screen trap was deeper, this may not be a problem...

not everyone cleans this out first when the dryer is done and they open the door....without that grate, I learned to do this first

@ Martin: That's right! I never thought of that. I'm, for lack of a better term, "guilty" of removing the laundry before cleaning the filter, but that's probably because I am so used to the top-mounted ones for the WP dryers.

@ Washman: Yep! That's exactly how it is.
