Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

What do we call 'em?

Did Maytag buy out Speed Queen, or vice versa? ;-)

In spite of that...what's the estimated age? Didn't older models have a side opening lid and solid tub? So would the 90's be close?

ISpeed Queen

I think that is one of the models built by Raytheon , They were pretty good machines

I don't know from this machine....it's something I could definitely use....

What are its attributes? Weaknesses?

The confusion, I think

came from a print ad. I don't have the ad anymore, but I remember it quite clearly:

"Why run a Maytag when you can run a Marathon?"

These are good machines, though not a favourite of mine.

Am I missing something??????I don't see the name Maytag nor any parts that attribute the same anywhere on either the washer or the dryer. Please inform me on this.

Raytheon SQ Coin Operated Washers

I had a friend who lived in DC in a condo building about two blocks away from Bufont Circle. In the laundry room downstairs the machines were Raytheon built SQ's. The washers had this weird thing that I have never seen before. I swear that just about 2 inches above the agi blades was this big round thing (like a ball that had been smooshed down from the top) that was made out of the same plastic as the agi. On the top of that ball it clearly said "do not load clothes above this."

Anyone seen one of those? Was the purpose to save water. In effect that washer would hold very little.

I know I wasn't dreaming this.
