I have an AWN412xxxxx speed queen from 2013 with electro mechanical controls. When selecting warm water, it is not that warm. I heard for a different part# mixing valve that will provide a better ratio of hot water to make the warm - warmer. Please elaborate on this......

What prompted this question is that the maytag dependable care I am working on, has a very awesome warm water fill. It is nice and warm.

To get this warm on the SQ, I have to close down the valve on the cold side a bit which makes the fill kinda slow.

SQ used a standard fill valve, I found them to be identical to ones on Maytags....I think their becoming universal....

basically all I did was drill out the hot side in size to match the cold side...to get an equal 50/50 mix

The inlet valve in the KA top loaders, was, at least for a while, 60/40 so the warm was nice and warm. When CU tested washers, the KA got a better grade for cleaning than the Kenmore. I believe that John said it was because of the warmer water from that special valve, but CU never measured the water temperatures to investigate. I just pray that my appliances outlive me. I get good, warm water for my SQ FL, the only FL without a 220 volt internal heater,  because it, along with all of the FLs, are on that modulating cold water supply valve that supplies 75-80F cold water and when you mix that with 145F hot water, you get good warm water.

If you want to modify your existing valve....

I modified the water valve in the Whirlpool washer at work 4 years ago.

Here is the thread about it....

Ok, I ordered the w/o 285805 let's keep fingers crossed it does the trick......not only do I hope for warmer warm, but also to allow a faster fill than standard one.

UPDATE:

The WP inlet valve Pt# 285805 came in the mail yesterday, and I installed it. I noticed the WARM setting fills quite a bit faster now, in addition to it being nice and warm like the maytags. On the flipside, the COLD seems to fill much slower now.

Overall a worthy upgrade as 95% of my stuff is washed on WARM/WARM.
