Wow Ted!!! That is AMAZING! I can't wait to see that sometime! Are you going to use it, or keep it virgin?

NIB. Literally. How often do you actually see THE BOX!? Oy!

Thanks guys! I was pretty thrilled to get it. It does indeed have that new washer smell... The box, unfortunately, was really water stained and brittle (the pics are of the good sides!), so it wasn't worth salvaging. I'm going to use it. I have plugged it in and it runs. Fred and Robert - we need to get something on the calendar!

Oh. My. GOODNESS!!!!

What does it say about me that my heart was racing and skipping beats as I flipped through the pictures? Wow, this is incredible. How and where did you find it? Do you have the story in another thread? Love to know the details and can't wait to see video of it in action.

Wow-ee-wow-woo, that is something!

Holy Cow Teddy.....I am over-joyed for you, it doesn't get any better than that.....spectacular!......

although the box may not be totally salvageable, try and save at least some part of it, even as a wall hanging.....

Speed Queen Simplicity Servis

Jeepers a NIB twinny and Coppertone, lovely machine Ted you will have hours of fun testing it out, its based on the MK70 Servis Supertwin from the UK, Speed Queen had an alliance to build the model you have from parts sent from Servis Factory in the UK. Is this the Two Speed model?

Heres our Mk70 from 1970.

Thanks Martin, Mike and Lisa. It's a single speed model. I sent pics to Speed Queen and the woman there said that based upon the serial number, it was made in September 1980. I would think it would be older than that... You have a nice machine there yourself, Mike. You can really see that the Speed Queen was modeled after the Servis![this post was last edited: 10/23/2014-15:33]

Thanks, Laundress. Yes...I had the same thought as you on the asking price. I emailed him upon the auction's completion, we had some back and forth and agreed upon a price. Guess he'd put it back up again in the meantime and then ended it.[this post was last edited: 10/23/2014-15:39]

Speed Queen  used to market it as " A portable with real agitator action".  It certainly is.  Congratulations.

If one didn't already have the Hoover TT along with a stash of parts would have made the move. But alas one does and has so that was that. Really have no room to store *two* twin tubs and considering the Hoover is rarely used would have my head handed to one on a plate if another twin-tub showed up, NIB not withstanding! *LOL*

Saw a NIB Panasonic TV get unboxed today at Goodwill for $15 and now this - must be NIB day.

Anything NIB is a "gas", lol! Happy for you Ted! I saw a fairly nice yellow one that was very clean. Now I know what to compare to...

Have fun!

I can think of only one thing that could possibly have added

to this treasure, and that would be if a box of original old-stock Tide had been included! You'll have to see if you can still redeem that coupon after all these years!

Ted, you're gonna have fun with this machine!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

mr-maytag/ted!!!
what a BEAUTY!!!

i love the darker coppertone brown. and brand new in the box. definitely a real treasure.
i did see that it was listed on ebay 2 times but, like launderess, the price was too high, even for a brand new speed queen twin tub. even if i've been really curious about one.

but i am definitely very happy for you & that someone in the group got this treasure. i can't wait to see some videos!!!!
bursting with joy for you over your brand new speed queen twin tub!!!!
WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOO HHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

so happy for you!!!

again CONGRATULATIONS!!!

:o)

1980? Looks older... (?)

Great find! Perhaps the literature that came with the machine or even the box of Tide will have a date that will give a better idea of when it was made. I may be wrong, but that machine looks to be older than 1980. The motor or one of the other parts might have a date of manufacture as well.

Andrew S.

Thanks, everyone! I agree on the date of manufacture, Andrew. I'll have to check it out more carefully and see if I can find a date somewhere. I wish it would have been a box of Tide too, but no such luck!

Hi Ted,

The agitator looks like a miniature of my NIB SQ Wringer. So happy for you that you went for this. Another beauty to add to your growing collection my friend !!

New SQ Twin Tub Washer

Wow what a great find Ted, we have the exact machine but in a much more used version.

I also tend to think that it is older than 1980, mainly because shaded colors disappeared among American appliances manufactures by 1977. On ours I found date stamps on the timer and main wash motors, ours is from 1974.

Freakin' WOW.......

I haven't been on this site in ages, but saw your post and had to check it out-and now reply.
My strangest dreams of finding a vintage machine was always that I would find a NIB Simplicity/Speed Queen TT in some old barn or antique shop for next to nothing. For me, Harvest Gold would be the greatest colour find.
But wow, here you are with this amazing find!
As a fellow owner of such type of machine, you will have a lot of fun using it.
Unfortunately, mine has developed some problems and is not usable at this time, but I still plan on keeping it and getting it fixed and running again.
The agitation in this machine is simply amazing and is true Speed Queen cleaning all the way. Even the SOUND is Speed Queen all the way!
I would think this model is definitely closer to 1980 though, as the earlier models had a grey coloured agitator as opposed to the later white coloured agitator.
Enjoy your new find and happy Twin Tubbing!!!

Pardon my ignorance...

I love your new washer and CONGRATS on your vintage find.....
Can you explain how this washer works? Wash and Rinse on the left then spin on the right?
Thanks
Mike
