Hi i have a speed queen model NA4821W33731 washer. I have only owned it for around three weeks. I have noticed what looks like grease coming from the agitator area making me think the transmission may be on its way out. I looked up the part 33227P
and it cost 267 bucks do you guys think its worth it for a older machine.

Replacing A Transmission In A SQ TL Washer

I all depends on many other factors that you did not supply such as, are you doing it yourself? , can you do heavy repairs?, Are you really wedded to this washer?,  And their many more questions, but in general I would not attempt repair of this washer unless your machine is less than ten years old in which you may be able to get a free replacement transmission.

Also keep in mind

If you do decide to take on a repair, which can be a great rewarding experience, you will find many helpful members here willing to help you get your machine back in perfect running shape.

If for some reason you decide you want to part with it, I'm sure there would be someone else interested in the machine for parts or repair.

Either way, as John had stated, a little more information would probably be helpful. Sometimes a picture doesn't hurt either.

Best of luck!

That sucks i think the seller knew about mine the
Kinda shady but hey that's life. I found a washer
Just like it on craigslist for 100 bucks gonna try to
Get it

i went out and got a new cheap washer at home depot. I plan on taking this speed queen apart and trying to just replace the seals in the transmission.I cant get the white center hub off any tips on how to get it off.

Removing the transmission from a SQ washer

They are a pain in the neck to take apart, we have only repaired a few over the years as they are usually not worth fixing when they develop major problems, they are very much like fixing older Norge design machines. But to better answer your question, you need a hot torch and lots of new parts.

First of all….

you might want to try to loosen those 4 hex-head screws holding the tub to the die-cast transmission. If you can't get those loose, that makes the job much tougher. You might possibly break the heads off the screws.
