Speed Queen washer leaking and making noise

This is in regard to an add in FB, "Worked perfectly until yesterday. Then started leaking and making a noise."

They are selling it for $100, looks to be in great condition, any idea what the issue could be? What to look for if I go to check it out?

How does it sound? Does it do it during agitation or spin?

I'm gonna ask some more questions to try and get a better idea, he says it was made in 2019, so not super old but not all that new either

"not a grinding sound, during washing, the load had just started. It was a set of sheets, so not a heavy load. The leak was coming from underneath, steady leak."

So doesn't sound like a pump issue unfortunately haha. Maybe a leak between the tub and trans?

With any luck, it has a split hose or something simple like that... I've read the seal replacement job is a real bear, depending on how corroded stuff is once you get into it, plus I think the seal kit is around $150.

Yeah I think I'll pass considering how old it is and an hour's drive each way. If it were local I'd take a look at it at least but I'm not gonna drive that far to find it all rusted inside. Or maybe if I thought for sure it was just the pump lol.

2019 Speed Queen top load washer.

This could be a great deal unless it has a bad main bearing, whether it’s worth an hour drive each way is up to you of course depends on how badly you want. A really great washing machine.

You could try to get them to take the front off of it and take some pictures if it has a bad main bearing there’s gonna be some leaking and brown water sprayed in the cabinet about mid-level, you could also ask them and put it in the final spin cycle and see what it sounds like if it gets roaring when it’s spinning, you probably should pass.
