from my last thread 30284...and taking Laundress' expert advise, hugs, I bought 4 sets of these machines, for $200.00....and what great machines they are...dryers only in electric....but with a little clean-up and polish, they look brand new, and work great...I added the fabric softner dispenser, and the tubs are not stainless, but you can't beat the price, besides they are true SQ underneath.....

the place I got them from have a museum/showroom of past vintage appliances, some they restored, if I had known I would have taken a camera, next time I will, the also have the double stack dryers with windows.....

the place is called
Caleco
West Chester, Pennsylvania
1-610-692-5600 ext 128
ask for Phil or Bryan
CALL FIRST!
Mon thru Fri 9 to 5
lunch 12 - 1

great guys to work with, and theres a crew that will load into your truck....many spare parts also....

Basically all I saw was the machines I had gotten plus the stacked dryers, there was a lot of coin operated ones including FL and TL.....and many parts of which they strip machines down, I don't know why, but they were all sorted and organized, we tried to switch the dryer doors from the stacked, because I wanted the window, but they were different sizes....you could always call and ask Phil, but I doubt it....I was suprised he wasn't one of us, of which he never heard of, until now, so I am trying to spread the word for members looking for machines, but I don't know why their breaking down the machines into organized parts, unless for spare parts for themselves, the service the mid-atlantic region for commercial laundry...

Thanks for the link! I ordered 3 caps (super cheap) and an agitator ($15)...now like I NEED an agitator...who knows, may want to take the flex vane out...I wonder if it would fit the AWN542? Sears doesn't seem to show any parts for my washer. :(

I didn't realize there were 2 styles of agitators at first, but seems like they would fit.....so far the hub is the same type, so it should fit....let us know for sure when you get this Dan....

I do think the solid vanes move more water, than the ones that flex, kinda like the first powerfins...

I don't know if I'm ever going to get the agitator off...I tried the "good tug" method, but with no luck...may have to create a puller of some sort. If it's anything like the control knobs (which required pliers!), they are on there good.

I wonder if they would have the sacred blue Westinghouse ramp agitator? Do they sell really old stuff? Well 70s Westy.

they had a number of wringers.....A turquoise GE FF set, coin operated, a bendix bolt down FL, a hamlton dryer with the glass window, and a few stoves of what I can remember

like I said I have to take my camera next time...

I ordered a cap as well...I am wondering if that is a solid vane agitator too and so cheap!I wanted to change out the flex vane for a solid vane one but I am going to have to order those pullers...I cant budge mine out.

Maybe because the new ones are virgin tight, and hard to get off the first few times......these ones I got were hard at first, I just used a belt and slid underneath, climbed on top and gave a good pull, came off first time...that agitator is hard to grip with your hands...

You know whats odd.....is the model number I used to get the fabric softner dispenser......this machine is using 2 agitators, one for the cap(solid) and one for the dispenser(flex)....yet I put the dispenser on the solid agitator, theres no difference on the top, their both the same.....order carefully!....

I like that they have tools and parts available for these machines.......all manufacturers should have this available, in case you need to work on them or ship them to a new location....

Sorry for all the post guys........but depending what model number you use can give you variable pricing on these parts....this is the cheapest I have found so far.....I paid $6.49 for the dispenser.....another model number priced it at $36.99(I didn't pay that for the whole washer) and getting that agitator for that price is great, you can't get it that cheap on ebay....

model number AWM472W....will give you the straight 4 vane agitator(not wavy), to fit the same hub....$94.08....I wonder how this one would do for turnover....but I have to shop arond and find it cheaper, have to find the right model number...

interesting?.....but have this site and page ready for them, Sears will try to charge you the higher price...

I'm not too fond of the straight vane (early 80s) agitator...just because it looks so generic. I think these were in laundromats up until the late 90s. I'll post pics when I get my non-flex one that I ordered for a whopping $15 (and only made postage go up by $1). 8.99 not bad for an agitator and 3 caps. Now what am I going to do with three caps?

I bought the agitator as well as the cap. I am hoping that it is a solid vane one...but for the price it aint bad. On Repairclinic they wanted close to $60 for the FlexVane..a tad steep I think and no cap to be found on that site. They say that the cap is discontinued..really?!? I think not!

Me Too

I ordered an agitator and cap as well. Sears must be trying to figure out what the hell is going on. All of a sudden the parts stock is drying up. Perhaps they think this is part of a scavenger hunt.

Noticed the cap had a caption that said this part is non-returnable.

well the model number plate says Alliance Laundry Systems from Ripon, WI

I also had the issue with the tub leaning forward during agitation, from the torque of the motor, I used two 5 inch pieces of rubber drain hose laid across in front and under the pump to keep it level and steady, so far works great...

Martin, I used the AWM472W model you had listed above. Is that not the model # of the machines you bought? The AWM472W parts cross to Amana machines as well. That's why I said Ratheon. I could be wrong.
