I wonder if anyone remembers the SPEED QUEEN washers from the early 1960's. They used to have the name SPEED QUEEN written in cursive caligrophy. They also had canary yellow, rose pink, and light blue in the timer dial. They also had a gray lint filter that latched at the top. Anyway, I would like to find these washers and the lint filters. If anyone knows what I am talking about please email me at [email protected] . Thank you.

Welcome speedqueengkc

You came to the right place. Many people here are speed queen enthusiasts. You will get the information you are looking for.
Once again welcome aboard.

Eddy, what a great pic. I loved that design of Speed Queen. Simple, functional, yet stylish and dramatic too. Is that your washer? Does it light up? thanks for posting

To Eddy1210 Speed Queen

Yes Eddy that is exactly the washer I have been thinking of. I wonder if it still has the original lint filter. If ever you don't mind parting with the filter, I would love to buy it from you. Sincerely, Kevin

but no filter

Yes, that is one of my Speed Queens, a '64 I believe A-49. It never had a lint filter with it but here's a shot of the interior. I just love this model, and yes the panel lights up with an incandescent light shining through those pastel colors, very cool.

See the Speed Queen!

Absolutely! Welcome and enjoy the club, we're having a convention of our members here in Omaha this summer (end of June)and you are more than welcome to come and enjoy the sights and sounds of vintage washing! I have a 1954 Speed Queen set up and running and if I can squeeze a little time into the schedule, another late 60's washer that needs some work. These are wonderful machines, several members here have some great models - Eddy has the best collection of them though, all beautiful and working too!

Speed Queen Lint filters

There were three lint filters that were made: The first one was a green cylinder, it had two pieces. The other filters were gray with a metal latch on the top. They had square holes. The first version was just the filter, the other was a lint filter dispenser. I would gladly pay 50.00$ or more for each of these filters. I have a symbol of quality sign(SPEED QUEEN). It is fourty years old. It has an orange and white Q , and it has tourqoise and avacado green. It is 4' by 8'. I am looking for the filters to go with my sign. I would be eternally greatful. How do I add a picture of the items to my first message? Thank you. Sincerely, Kevin (SPEED QUEEN GKC). Please Email me at: [email protected] if anyone comes across a filter.

To Eddy

That is the washer I am looking for. I love the color and detail on the backsplash. The washers nowadays are streamlined and boring. You used to be able to tell what brand the machine was just by looking at it. Now they all look the same. I would like to see your other SPEED QUEENS. Thank you Sincerely, Kevin

To Eddy 1210

I am wondering if you could find me a copper lint filter. I have been searching for one for the past 15 years. I would pay 50.00$ or more for it. I have been looking for an A53 or an A49 and a 58 GE washer with copper lint filter. If ever you wouldn't mind selling these machines, I would love to buy them from you. These machines hold alot of memories for me and I would be greatful for any of these machines. Thank you, Sincerely, Kevin

welcome

Sppequeengkc! Love your Speedqueen Eddy! This is the first time I`ve seen it. Beautiful condition. Show us a pic with the lights!

lights on

Here's a pic of it washing away, hard to see the full effect of the control light because of the flash but you can see kind of where the bulb is located. Kevin, I have yet to find a filter for my Speed Queens :-( I do have a fabric softner dispensor, which are not that easy to find these days either.
Glad you're enjoying the pics and I will upload more of my different machines soon.

A-78

Now THAT is a cool-lookin' SQ!!! I also like the Canadian SQ with the "cushy" vinyl padding in the control panel! Approx. what years are they?

To Eddy1210

I apologize if I sound over enthusiastic or anxious, but I have been searching for an A49 or an A53 for the past fifteen years. It is hard to believe that there are washers out there, that are fourty years old and in working order. I feel like a kid that stepped into a toy store; I want,I want,I want. I will post a picture of the lint filters as soon as I figure out how. I don't have room for a big collection and all I am looking for, at the moment, are the filters. I have room in my place for one more machine. Have you ever seen the filters I am talking about? If you ever come across another A49 or an A53 or if you ever want to downsize your collection, I would like to buy one of them from you. If you come across one for parts, I would like to have the control panel to go with my symbol of quality sign and Speed Queen clock. I will pay whatever shipping costs there are. Thank you for posting those pictures. It makes me think of some dear little old ladies that took care of me when I was four or five years old. Thank you again for your reply to my messages. Sincerly, KevinSpeed QueenGeneral Electric enthusiast.
