I'm thinking about maybe getting this for my dad since he doesn't have a washer nor a real setup for a traditional washer and dryer.

Is this something I might pursue or would this be a lot of work for someone who's use to a regular machine.

I haven't inquired about it, but I thought I'd ask the experts.

Of course, if someone here really likes it, go for it.

Thanks.

I say skip it

I'm not sure what you mean when you say your dad doesn't have "a real setup for a traditional washer and dryer"...

...but wringer washers need a water source, a drain to drain into, and one or two laundry sinks for rinsing the laundry.

If your dad is very elderly, I wouldn't recommend. These things were very tiring to use when I used one as a kid for a few months. Just lugging wet laundry is a workout and a half--then the skill to get larger garments through that ringer just right without popping it a 100 times.

places like Walmart.com have portable washers and dryers, even package deals, that would probably be a better option for your father, something that hooks up to the sink and easy to operate, and does a fair size load, and fits in tight spaces....give it a thought

My first washer was a wringer Maytag. I lived in a studio apartment and didn't have hook ups for a standard machine. I got a hose and hooked it up to the sink to fill the machine. I hooked a hose to the elbow and drained the water into the toilet, then filled the machine again for the rinse. After wringing out the clean load, I used the rinse water for the next wash load. It worked great and saved a bunch of money at the laundromat. If he is willing and able to do that, it is an option. (it wasn't as bad as it sounds, although, I DO like to do laundry!)

I hope someone goes after it, SS tub. Great for washing throw rugs. I would vote with the majority about buying this for a senior adult, they are dangerous. alr2903
