This relates to my AFN50 (prior gen. FL)
I have noticed that there is some small "pocket" under the detergent drawer that collects liquid that cannot escape. Over time it may tend to get a bit messy (although out of site) and may contribute to odors. It's hard to see but in the last picture it is still holding liquid.
I searched on this subject and found an old thread where Malcolm appears to have noticed a similar issue when he had his Imperial set. He described it this way:
"...I also abandoned the detergent drawer opting to add detergent directly to the drum prior to the clothing. The way the drawer is designed is the shell that it slides into is tilted towards the back of the machine. If you add liquid detergent to the drawer, it runs through and drips into the shell at the front. When you close the drawer and then start the machine, none of the shell under the drawer gets rinsed promoting buildup."
1. Anyone know why they would have designed this front pocket area which collects and holds moisture/liquid ? I've yet to figure out why it's here since there is no path for the liquid to exit.
2, Do the newer SQ FL models with the electronic controls continue with this same design (e.g. FF7 and LFNE) ?
