I was thinking about the Spin X dryer and was wondering if anyone here has one or ever tried one of these machines...

If You Can Find A Hoover TT

The spin/extractor basket will basically do the same thing, cost less and is probably better built.

Was going to have a spin dryer sent from Europe, until realised most won't hold more than my Hoover TT's spin basket, and neither will it spin faster (about 2800rpms). Wanted a spin dryer to perhaps do large blankets, but they won't fit in most spin dryers unless one obtains a model rated to hold more than 9kg.

Another advantage of the Hoover spin dryer is that it has a pump, rather than just a gravity drain as the Spin-X. To be fair some modern European spin driers do have pumps as well, but not the model shown above. Without a pump one must make sure the extractor does not move about which causes the spout to misalign from whatever one is going to use to catch the water coming out of the unit. Usually once extractors get going they are stable, but can jump and wobble about when ramping up to speed and slowing down.

Tend really only to put items into the Hoover TT after they come out of the Miele if they are heavy and thick such as towels and such. The 900 or even 1100 rpm speed from the Miele is fine for most other items and while a trip throught the Hoover will result in a bit more water extraction, it can also stretch things badly out of shape.

If I remember correctly, the Spin-X is pretty expensive.

Three years ago I purchased a spinner online. It turned out to be Pakistani made. Some other members had them too. Several of them exploded while being used. Ours is still humming away after three years. It's amazing at how much water they extract from your clothes. If you use this spinner in conjunction with line drying your sheets, shirts are dry almost as soon as they hit the line. I think we paid $129.00 for the Paki model (with a General Electric plexiglass window in the lid!)

I had a Spin-X for a couple years, they are truly great machines! However, one must be very very careful with them. My mom end up accidentally dropping a pair of underwear between the inner and outer tub while unloading it. She put another load in, turned it on and it exploded sending the plastic top smashing into the ceiling! After that, my mom won't use them anymore. I found this one which seems to be almost EXACTLY the same as the Spin-X for a fraction of the price, not to mention it holds more! It only spins 100 RPM less than the Spin-X's 3,300 RPM but still does a GREAT job! I love this one!

One of the laundromats that I when to had a large centrifugal spin dryer. I think it was only a quarter to use. I used for jeans, towels, and blankets. Sure saved a lot of drying time and money.

you'll love a spin dryer

Mine is an AEG too brought here from Germany. (Guy, how did you get your AEG?)
It's rated at 4 kg and spins @2800 rpm, but being a 50 hz unit, spins more like 3000 on our 60 hz 220 volt power. Can't believe how dry the clothes come out.
