This will be a long post. I will try and break it up in a couple of posts.

On Thursday, May 8th, I left work and picked up a loaded trailer (I had loaded the trailer up the previous weekend with appliances. Pictures 1 and 2). I headed out from Austin, MN and only made it 100 miles down the road to La Crescent, MN. My dad and his wife live there and I stayed the night at their place.

On the trailer I had a 1959 Westinghouse refrigerator that had been delivered to me from Washington state, a Westinghouse dishwasher, Bradford washer and dryer, Westinghouse slant-front washer, Apex dryer, Hotpoint dishwasher, 2 Maytag dishwashers and 2 RCA console TVs.

Friday morning, I woke up early and headed out. I made it to South Bend, IN where I picked up a certain Poppy Red Frigidaire compactor from a collector. I headed north into Michigan. In Detroit I picked up a Westinghouse dehumidifier. Around 7:30 Friday night, I made it to Port Clinton, OH where I had a reservation for a room right on Lake Eerie. Picture 3 was the view from the hotel I stayed at.

Saturday morning, I headed out and made it to Cleveland, OH and visited "A Christmas Story" house. Neat place. The remainder of the pictures are from the house. The movie supposedly took place in 1940, but the Maytag washer and the Kirby vacuum are a bit too new for it.

After leaving "A Christmas Story" house, I met up with Chris Moore at his place and delivered the majority of the trailer load. John from Beltsville, MD joined us shortly after I arrived. John brought along a couple of Combos to be delivered to Minnesota. I picked up 4 Easy Spindriers from Chris and a Maytag dryer for another collector. I unfortunately didn't have a lot of time, but did spend about 2 hours there.
I got back on the road and had to stop and pick up this lovely Frigidaire Custom Imperial dryer. It was on Facebook Marketplace. The mat on top of the dryer, I had tried to remove when I purchased the dryer, but I wasn't able to remove it. By the time I had gotten home with it, the mat was gone.
I made it to Cincinnati, OH that evening and met up with David and Will (who drove up from Virginia). The three of us went out to dinner for some Cincinnati Chilli.

Sounds like it was a worthwhile trip. The turquoise dryer is nice looking.

Where did you go for Cincinnati chilli? Skyline and Gold Star are the local chains with multiple locations, but the famous place is Camp Washington Chilli, in it's original location - though different building - since 1940. I have a buddy that lives a few blocks away, but he and I have not ever met up there.

Last night, as I was typing the next post, the electricity went out. Luckily, I was a laptop, so I was able to save what I had written, but without internet I wasn't able to finish. I then forgot to return when everything came back on.
So, to continue on.

Sunday morning after breakfast, we headed down to Louisville, KY and met up with Brandon and Brandon who showed us their lovely house. The 5 of us then went to lunch and did a little antiquing. After the antique store, they gave me this Pink 1957 Lady Kenmore washer. I had purchased a pink 1957 Lady Kenmore dryer (picture 3) back in 2008 and had been looking for the washer ever since. I found the washer on Facebook Marketplace and reached out to my friends, and they were able to pick it up for me and hold onto it, until I was available to get it. I just need to get it cleaned up and tested. The cord is shot, so I will have to replace it before I test the machine out.

After we returned from Louisville, we rearranged the trailer. The Westinghouse refrigerator and dishwasher was going on to Virginia, so had to be unloaded. One of the Easys was staying in Cincinnati. In addition to the 1957 Lady Kenmore washer, I also got a Coppertone 1968 Kenmore Dryer and one of my all-time favorites, a 1957 Frigidaire Custom Imperial control tower dryer. The 57 Frigidaire was on marketplace in Virginia, and I worked with Tyler to pick it up for me. Will then delivered it from Tyler to Cincinnati.

Monday, Dave had to work, so Will and I hit some restores, thrift stores, antique stores, Joann Fabrics, and even went to Jungle Jim's (world's largest grocery store).

Tuesday morning, it was time to head home. Here are some shots of the loaded trailer for the return trip home.

I made it to Manitowoc, WI Tuesday afternoon. I have some family there I stayed the night with. Wednesday morning, I left and made it back home to Austin, MN. A little over 2000 miles round trip, but it was worth it to see everyone.

Thank you to all those that helped facilitate this haul.

bellalaundry: I'm not sure. LOL. I have acquired quite a few machines in the past couple of months.

cadman: Yes both of the RCA TVs came from you. They had just been sitting in the garage since I got them from you. I knew I wasn't going to use them, so I thought someone else should get to enjoy them.

CircleW: We actually went to Dixie's Chili in Newport, KY. This is my third year in a row going to Cincinnati, and all three times, we have eaten, at least once, at Dixie's.

agiflow : I have attached the thread for when I got the Bradford set.

I've heard Dixie Chilli is excellent, but haven't been.

What did you think of Jungle Jim's? They have two locations, and I usually go to Eastgate, though I sometimes visit the original Fairfield location, which I always get lost in. Planning to go to Eastgate soon.

If I'd known late last Summer that you were coming, I would have offered you a beautiful early 1970s Frigidaire range that was in a house that was recently given to our local historical society.

Glad you had a safe and fun trip.

CircleW: I really like Dixie's. My friend David really likes it too. I have not tried any of the other places, so I can't say to them.
Jungle Jim's was huge. We went to the original Fairfield location. I would probably go back there.
I appreciate the offer, but I probably would have turned it down. I'm running out of room as it is with the washers and dryers.

Nice Haul! Louisville is my old stomping grounds. Lot's of great thrift and antique stores there. My favorite is Tickled Pink. If i had known you were headed down i would have met up to go shopping. Nashville doesn't seem to have as good as thrifting places as Louisville does. Glad you got some great finds.

Thanks Justin. I actually went to the archives last night to look up the Bradford washer and saw it was indeed WCI, but this one doesn't have the indexing tub. That's quite a haul and a nice score you got there.
