Pick a room, make the commitment. And do just that room.
Stay focused on just that room.
Say..a bathroom..if there’s a under sink cabinet, clean it out. If the walls in the bathroom need washing..wash em! If they need painting, paint them! Anything that needs fixed, fix it!
Don't give up til that one room is complete.
By then you’ll be motivated to move on

Start simple.  Pick up stuff laying around.  Scan the room, what bothers you most? Start with that the rest will follow.

Personally I never do Spring Cleaning, I much prefer Fall Cleaning.  Doors and windows open a bit in the summer, you are out of the house a lot so the house is secondary.  However in the fall we all start huddling inside.  At that point I want everything cleaned,  polished and spotless.  That way I'm all preped for the holidays.

You can start anywhere Derek.

Kitchen cabinets, in and out, closets, (maybe while changingover to summer wardrobe) and storing some winter clothes. Windows, even get the furnace ready for summer A/C use. I got a new filter, and a humidifier pad for next winter. They sell out fast if I wait till next fall. I'll vacuum the filter plenum, blower wheel, and inside the back panels.
As I'm retired, I started in January. There'es plenty to do outside now.
An old buddy rarley cleaned period. He said he lived alone, and no one visits. He let it get so gross, when he finally decided to do anything, he did a total makeover. Paint, furniture, carpet, all of it.

The other day, the idea came to me to move my parents' Stickley cherry bookcase up to my bedroom to hold my overflow of books like the ones on the stairs. I even found my Kindle that has never been out of the box. The bookcase has been standing, unused, in the living room since sometime in 2010. I had to move stuff out of the way in my bedroom to clear a path, but I managed to do it over two days with workdays beginning after 3PM when breakfast and morning shower are completed. I could not believe how heavy a small bookcase could be. I wrapped a pad around it and secured it with a bungee cord and took it up the steps one step at a time. I put two towels on the floor and gently scooted it into place. I am not even sore!

That's what I do. When I'm really zoned out I literally wander around and the first thing I see that's out of place, I take care of that. And repeat.
