SQ TL Series 8/9 Water Levels?

I saw a post on another site complaining about the water levels on the electronic models. I was wondering if owners of both series machines could post a picture of each water level in their respective machines.

It is my understanding that there are four distinct levels in the electronic models whereby the series 8 machine skips the one. So model 9 is 1/2/3/4 (lowest to highest) and model 8 is 1/X/3/4 (skipping one level)

So the middle level on the series 8 machine isn't a split of the difference between the highest and lowest, but more towards level 3 of the 9 machine.

Is this an accurate assumption?

From a production standpoint, it most likely is cheaper to just blank out one level instead of creating a whole new programming and control board version plus a seperate 3 level pressure switch (or 4, if they have an overflow protection level). You know, mass ordering.
Or do these use these digital switches like the LG FLs do?

That's a very good question. Back in the 90's when I had my electronic Amana set, there were 5 water levels on the panel. The lowest, middle, and upper were all pressure controlled. The lowest/middle and middle/upper were timed. The time was based upon how long it took the machine to fill from empty to the lowest level. Needless to say, the calculated targets weren't always very accurate.

I suspect the technology of today is far better with an electronic sensor and thought the middle level on the 8 was dead center between upper and lower. I guess that isn't the case.

My 8 series definitely goes 1/3/4. It's one of the few gripes I have about the machine is that "medium" is really a "medium large". You'd think it'd be centered but it's not. The pressure switch appears to be electronic, all it has is some wires going into it that come from the control board. I have a picture of it in the thread I started a year ago. I have zero complaints about the small and large, they are what I expect, small is just enough for a few shirts, wash clothes or a couple of bath towels. And large is up to the last set of holes or second from the last, I can't remember right now, but it's where one should expect a "large" fill to be.

I suppose if one was wanting minute water level control they should go for the mechanical 432 assuming it still has the variable level control.

Overall it's not a huge deal to me, I only do large loads most of the time anyway.

See reply #18 for a look at the control panel. There is a relay panel and possibly another circuit board at the bottom front left of the machine in a plastic enclosure.
