A3308

Hello Seamus and all, Like you I am lucky to have one these beautiful machines, second to the Logic 1300 i consider it too be one of the best Hoover made.......along with a few others.

Today at work i picked up an old electronic 1100 very simular to the "Selectormatic" brown and orange colour scheme on the control panel, it all works, bearings are smooth, motor quiet, programmer advances and no leaks, the only thing is one of the brown spin speed selector buttons is missing, so if anyone has any spare i would be most grateful.

Message for "Sparkymarky1973" The beautiful Hoover dryer delux is going well I am so pleased i bought this from you

Ive added a few pix of my A3308

Have a good new year to all

Gary

Hoover A3110

nice sudsy wash, this was with no powder added so i guess the drum and pipes are cacked in old soap powder.
As you can see from the pictures it is a bit dog eared but i will try getting it looking as good as possible, i love these machines.

Thank you so much for those Gary

This, because of my childhood memories is one of my favorite Hoover machines. I used to see them sold throughout the 80s, first of course new and then in secondhand Washing machine shops (which all seem to have gone now. I just love the 70/80s groovy orange on the fascia.

A couple of questions, was this the first Hoover to have the square door set flat into the front of the machine, i.e the replacement to the A3060? Does anyone know when this machine was produced/ended?

All the best

Rob

Hi Gary

Glad to hear the dryer de luxe is going strong and that you are enjoying it. It makes me feel so much better knowing it went to a deserving home where it will be cared for and treated properly.

Nice to see the A3110. Fab machine and I love the "New" sticker on the door. I had one of those machines but alas was at deaths door with the dreaded rust and there was just too much of it to be able to save it. I wished I had kept the buttons now as I could have sent you a replacement for yours. On mine the buttons where there but the orange half load button was split in 2.

Hi Rob:

Yes you are correct in that the A3110 was the replacememt for the A3060 and you are also correct that it was the first model with the "flush" door.

They started manufacturing the A3110 in January 1980 but I don't know when production ended. I only know the date because my A3060 is dated Dec 79 and the A3110 I had was dated Jan 80.

Hoover A3110

Hello Rob glad you like the pictures and of course the lovely old machine, sorry to say that due to my age my child hood memorys go back before front loaders were the norm, infact my earliest memory is my mums GEC twintub that had na "L" shaped tub with two agitators in the bottom, i remember my dad used to pick me up and put me in it, Thanks two Kevin of the Twin tub emporium fro identifying this machine.

Hello Mark, yup tis lovely, works well and sounds well, pity i cant get it in the house but never mind, one day a matching A3190 washer turn up, have added a picture of it

Sod all of any interest came in work today, shitty modern hotpoint, usual knackered bearings, and a couple of DC01 dysons (Blurch)

Ah well one step closer to Hoover Heaven with this one

Regards
Gary

Hi Gary.
Fantastic that you have found an A3110. Totally love this style of machine, although I only ever saw the A3110 varaiant which was owned by an Aunt and Uncle. Never saw the A3108 800 variant or A3112 Keymatic and have only recently seen the upper portion of an A3114 Selectamatic.

Where did your machine come from?

Apart from the A3108 (down to personal taste) with its silver facia, the series was a really smart looking design and it was such as shame that it was comparitively short lived.

Wonderful that another (I know of only one other) A3110 is saved.

Any A3112 Keys or A3114 Selectas out there!? Keep your eyes peeled and ears pricked up - there will be one or two still out there, with a bit of luck.

Hi Rob.
cant provide specific production dates but the A3110 appears in the April 1981 Which magazine listings. The next major washing machine report was in May 1982 when the replacemnt machine (A3190 Electron 1100 de luxe) was listed.
Hope this helps a bit - there was also the A3156 Autocare 1100, which was a short lived interim model which was basically a reliveried A3110.

Cheers
paul

A3110

Wow - my childhood machine!

I think those installation instructions were the ones I scanned in ages ago, I still have them tucked away somewhere probably in amongst my brochure collection in the attic.

Beautiful machine, is what I grew up with as well as nana's A3060, a step up IMO to Hotpoint's offerings at the time. I remember mum moaning to my nana when we got the Creda at how it never washed as well as the Hoover, and until recently mum's still gone on about how good that Hoover was.

I love those classic square-door Hoover's. They're so much better than today's lacklustre Candy based models lol.

It's good to see that there is plenty of those models still in circulation.

I love all models that have been made over the years and even now, they still look great!

I quite like the Computer-Control models and the 1's that followed it as well as Electron and Logic/Ecologic ranges. The high water level rules! I like later Keymatic and Electronic models as well.

I wonder when Hoover discontinued square-door models, I think it was when they introduced the Classica/New-Wave ranges or it may have been sold alongside it for a bit. Correct me on this please.

It has to be said but Hoover is the King of the square-door washing machines!

That is a fact!
