Stainless Panels for KA DW?

Do these exist for a 1990 model? Since our refrigerator is stainless and the new stove will be also, my partner says our 1990 KA dishwasher (currently sporting black panels) will no longer match. I absolutely don't want to replace the DW so am wondering if there is a source for stainless panels that will fit it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If the DW has the trim frame on its front panels (a silver-coloured frame holding the black panels in place), then any sheet-metal shop should be able to get stainless sheet and cut panels for you. Stainless comes in different gauges (thicknesses), so take a black panel with you. Brushed stainless also comes in different "brushes", meaning how finely or roughly brushed the surface is- a No. 4 brush is common.

If you luck up on a used set of KA factory panels, they are likely to be cheaper than this option, but I wanted to make sure you knew of it, if all else fails.

What I meant to convey about the different brushes available on stainless is that you should be able to take a sample of your other appliances' stainless with you (some small panel, maybe) and match your sheet-metal order to that. A really good metal shop will have samples, as well.

Hobart still makes the stainless panels to fit these machines (not the Architect Series machines). They are available through parts suppliers for around $50 - $60 if you can't find other sources for them. I've spotted these on eBay from time to time, too. A metal works shop can definitely make panels to fit though.

I have only the bottom panel for a KA dishwasher. It's older than 1990, and I'm not sure what your front panel looks like. I don't have the panel for the door. You can have it for the price of shipping if interested.

Hey Fred, thanks for the offer. I will see if I can get a matched set first and if not, I may be contacting you. I suspect that just ordering the part would be cheaper than going to a sheet metal shop, which I was considering. I used to work for an HVAC company and had a large 4 X 8 heavy gauge sheet of stainless cut for my stove area's backsplash so am aware of this option.

Thanks for the suggestions, as I want to keep this fine machine as long as it's performing well, which it has been for over 17 years.

How about a model number?

Model number would really help here! I just got Andrewinorlando a new stainless set for his Kitchenaid 22 Selectra. They came right from Whirlpool so they are an exact fit for the standard trim kit that most of those machines came with. You have a trim kit if you have the thin chrome strips along the outer edges of your door panels.

I was thinking, if you have an extra panel or a side of one you know you will never use why not try spray painting it with one of those "metal" paints available at HD etc? Will only cost a few bucks and if it looks good great, it it looks terrible, no loss.

I haven't pulled the panels to check out the color/finish options but I'm pretty sure stainless is not one of them. To date I've used the white panel, and when we got our stainless KA fridge it made sense to switch the dishwasher's panels to black so it would at least match the black-front slide-in range. New stainless range is coming so this is why I'm looking to go with that same finish for the DW panels now. Not so sure a spray painted finish would match the real deal for look of the "grain" etc.
