starting a collection

Thanks to dear Stephen I have now begun a collection of my own. We installed a vintage Hobart Kitchenaide dishwasher - superba Monterey - in my kitchen. We're still doing a few little cosmetic things to it but she's running beautifully. Also, I now have two vintage washers in my laundryroom to keep my modern front loading Frigemore company. I have a Norge (with a Magic Chef back panel) up and running whose banging and clanging noises do not please my cat and a 1978 Frigidaire 1-18 which we are still tweaking. It's spinning fine but the rolers need a littel cleaning and adjusting to get the jetcone action moving smoothly. Pictures will follow soon.

I'm also going to post some pics soon of Stephn's collection which is great next time I go over to do laundry. He has 1 1960 Kenmore "alphabet" washer, a 62 Maytag in dark brown, a 1-18 in almond, a mid-60's solid tub Speed Queen which he and I replaced the motor in recently, a late 60's Maytag (both Maytags have tub lights), and two TOL Kenmore push buttons with the gold variflex agitators.

Speed Queen

I have a Speed Queen that needs a little more work. I hope to get back to it after the weather warms up a bit.

I had a Lady Kenmore pushbutton with vari-flex agitator a few years ago. I loved how quiet that machine ran with that slimline belt.

Sounds like Stephn needs to put up an Atlanta Wash-In and show off his collection. I would like to hook up with some of the local Atlanta collectors. We need to network some down South.

Speed Queen Alone

All I have in my collection is the one solid tub Speed Queen and it lives in the garage where there is no hook up. My daily drivers are a set of LG's. The LG's are ok. I wouldn't buy them again though. I someday hope to replace them with a set of Miele's.

In order to play with the Speed Queen, I have to pull a garden hose from the back yard around into the garage. Which takes care of the source. The waste water pumps into the large garbage can. In the bottom of that can lives a submersible pump. Which will pump the waste water to the back yard.

Its not pretty, but it works.

I toyed with the idea of marketing a standalone unit that had a pump capable of supplying water to the machine to these big box stores so they could have machines operate with a live water demo. It would help sell more machines and draw washerphiles into the stores like mad.
