They look like very basic cheaply made no frills appliances.

What’s the pricing like is the pricing commensurate with the low number of features etc.

Are these all made in Canada?

Never heard of them before. Based in Elora Ontario and according to the map there's an appliance store here in Sarnia that sells them. The same store I bought our KA dishwasher from years ago and coininkly dinkly I just drove by tonight but they were closed. I'm on the hunt for a new fridge. It says they manufacture them but I highly doubt it.. I may go tomorrow fridge hunting and I'll see if they have any and where they are made. I also wonder if they have anything to do with Elora Stoveworks. That company that makes modern stoves that look like antique coal/wood stoves.

Marathon appliances

John, from their Guelph home they are expanding in a new facility in Elora to start bringing some manufacturing to Canada. They seem to be known for their quality and basic practical features.

I asked them where their line of ranges were manufactured. Reply: "Hello, our products are currently manufactured in China to our specifications and then distributed across Canada. However, we have recently announced our plans to expand our facility here in Elora, ON to allow for future production of some product lines to occur in Canada"

In my region, the MER240W is about 1K from the 3 stores that offer them in my city.

I also asked about MSRP. Reply: "We leave pricing up to our authorized dealers."

Looks like it's an offshoot of the "olde tyme" company up there (whose name escapes me). Seems quite logical, as the 24" stove probably has enough volume in Canada (not terribly popular in the US; seems mostly to go into condos/apartments). They may well be able to get enough volume to OEM for the other companies (GE, WP, etc) and permit on-shoring both in the US/Canada.

The only other 24" manufacturer is, I think, Peerless-Premier in Belleville, IL, and they only have controls-on-the-front (which doesn't cleanly integrate into GE/WP's backsplash product line).

Wonder if there's also a niche for them taking on the sizes of built-ins formerly manufactured by Frigidaire/Electrolux in their Quebec plant.

Interesting that Elmira just got acquired by a diversified manufacturer in Arnprior. I still have to think that there's a significant divergence between a porcelain enamel manufacturer (i.e. range/oven/stove) and a non-porcelain manufacturer (refrigeration/laundry). Energy costs, if nothing else. Maybe a Hydro-Quebec line takes care of the energy cost...

Separately, there's a cool manufacturer that you pass by on the Via Rail line between Windsor and Toronto--the plant that makes Bull Dog Steel Wool. Tiny little place right on the railroad that probably has been there since forever...that is a product (kind of like cellulose sponges) that I'd like to see how they're manufactured.

A friend of mine just had to have an old fashion looking new range from Elmira Stove works. The town of Elmira is about 30 minutes from me.
When I went to paint her reno kitchen the first thing to go was the stove. She regretted buying it from day one.
She said there were so many things that went wrong with it. It hogged up too much space. The exhaust fan in the warming oven part never really worked right. The oven was so small they always bbqed their holiday bird.
A baking sheet barely fit in the oven. The temps were always off in the oven.
The appliances were tooted back in the day made by Mennonites.
My cousin has the old new looking set. I think they are made by Whirlpool and just have an extremely heavy door slammed on the front that the hinges finally go.

Tooted back in the day meant they were made by Mennonites hand crafted and engineered like old school appliances forged like horse shoes. Not even close. Mennonites might have been involved hauling supplies but I doubt much after that.
