Hi all, my everyday Whirlpool electric stove that I bought brand new in 1990 is working wonderfully except the electric clock. It no longer works so that means that the minute minder, set time on and off and the self cleaning feature don't either. I have tried to get a new one but no go. Where can I have this fixed? Any of you ever had this go wrong and what have you done to fix it? Thanks for your help. Gary

Very Possible....

....That your timer was built by General Electric - they built electromechanical timers for many other manufacturers for a long time, before exiting the timer business.

GE sold the timer business to General Time Repairs in Carroll, IA; this company now services GE-built timers with original, new GE parts. They offer both repair service and an exchange service - they sell you an exact replacement timer, you send them your old one to get a rebate called a "core charge."

Here's the info:

Roger:

I think General Time Repair says they can repair older units, but I think your best bet is going to be to call them and ask. If you have access to the clock, getting any model/serial numbers off of it might be helpful.

THANKS TO ALL

Thanks to all for your help. I called Sue in Iowa and they have the clock that I need. I am going to order it soon and then send them the old one back so that they
can rebuild it and reuse it. They are very helpful there and more than willing to help. Gary

I sent the clock into the folks at GEtimer repair in Carroll, Iowa. They can repair mine and send it back. Sue was very helpful and so it should be back next week? Thanks for all of your help, guys. I'll tell you what happens when I get it back. Thanks again, Gary

YEA! the clock is home

Thanks Danemondsandy and everyone for giving me addresses and phone numbers to have the electric clock repaired on my 1990 Whirlpool electric stove. The clock came back today, I installed it and it works like it did the day I bought the stove new! YEA! Thanks again for all of your help. The folks at General time are the best. Bye for now, Gary

Gary:

Thanks very much for the update - I'm glad everything worked out well.

I also appreciate hearing feedback about General Time Service, because we don't have a lot of info on them. Knowing that they're doing a good job makes them a valuable resource for members here.

Again, I appreciate that you took the time to close the loop on this thread. [this post was last edited: 6/13/2014-18:54]

Sandy

HI Sandy, Thanks for the comment. Living in the Midwest like I do, Iowa is my neighbor to the west a bit. I am so satisfied for the work that was done on my stove clock. I would recommend them in a heartbeat; if you hadn't have told me about them, I would have had no clue on what to do. All is well here and thanks again. Gary

I think General Time's site has been hacked. I just tried clicking the link above and it sets off my antivirus. The top of the webpage identifies itself as "The only company certified by GE for the repair of...etc" but the text that appears below it is (do NOT click the links):

"Hi,everybody, good news for you that you can buy wow gold and runescape gold here any time when you need. www.savorgold.com has a professional and experienced team. We possess good reputation for our satisfactory diablo 3 gold, guild wars 2 gold,"
