Strange Kitchenaid Washer & Dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

We had this same dryer in electric.  I gave it to my brother a few years ago.  We had a gas connection here and no 220v.  It works beautifully and was the quietest dryer I ever owned.   There is a cycle selector knob to the left.  alr

The pushbuttons are mechanical.  The panels are labeled "Easy Clean Selectra.  It's largely a marketing feature.  Makes for a flat button array, wipes clean, doesn't catch grunge around the buttons.  The timer and water level are still rotary, and this washer has a rotary control for the adjustable end-of-cycle signal.

It's a nice pair.

A problem I've seen with this particular washer/dryer style is that the vinyl membrane over the mechanical buttons underneath isn't very durable. It seems to wear and then the membrane tears.

How old are this units? They look kind of late 80's early 90's.

Whirlpool did have replaceable "skins" for these electronic control panels, (I know these are covering mechanical switches) but by the time a replacement is needed the part is long NLA.

Does the dryer come with a window door???? I used to sell the hell out of these at Incredible Universe to be shipped out to Bermuda.
