Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

A612 -- great washer, except for the 1.5 minute timer increments, and therefore the (inadequate) 1.5 minute long rinse.

Going left from the dial are:
4 speed selection buttons
5 water temp combinations
variable water lever
soak only/soak-to-wash options

Cool machine...if I had to have a late-model Maytag, the latest I would go would be the ivory-button machines from the early 80's.

ivory buttons!

awesome machine series! we have that series with the ivory buttons. Ours is from 1982. It has 4 fill levels, 3 water temps, and 3 cycles, Normal, PermPress, and Delicate. It's a one speed though.
For a while it used to walk around on its own during spins. But back in '93, that was repaired with some suspension work and replacement of some felt pieces. In 2006 it's still going strong. This weekend when I go home from school, i'll be feeding it 4 loads of college-student clothes. MMM.
The matching dryer died, so we have 2003 Neptune dryer, that's been running great too.

Maytag!

My Mom had the same washer - it was the TOL when she got it in 1981. Real durable washer and quiet to. This would make a great collectors item.

2 buttons to the left of water level

A810 modle was not available in a suds saver version

the 2 buttons to the left of the water level control are for timed soak only or timed soak and advance to wash......the was a spin between the soak and wash so u would either have to return to the machine to as wash soap or use the fsdispencer to release liquid detergent into the wash cycle

Just my 2 cents: The 08, 10, and 12 series were the ultimate in the Maytag line. Workhorses, and top quality. That A810 is a beauty. There was also a white A712 and DE 712 listed on e-bay recently. Very fine machines.
