Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

A particularly beautiful Taylor Avenue Hotpoint.

I'd love to find one of these, more for the colors and the dispensers than for the "big deal" speed controls, but given that this model was only available for one year, 1967, and it was a TOL, my chances are slim. BTW, this model looks like it lacks a safety lid switch...unusual for a model this late.

GE offered a similar variable speeds governor controlled model from 1969 for a couple of years.

Variable speed top load washers

Hi Ken, not doubting you, but it seems hard to believe that GE would introduce a variable speed washer at least a year after everybody else. Abandoned this silly idea.

This hot point variable speed, solid tub, washer was also sold under the Easy name, there was also a Norge and a signature version and a lady Kenmore version all these machines used a GE variable speed motor ironically.

The only other odd machine was the Frigidaire variable speed, one that used a clutch that slipped, same as GE but completely different set up.

I only ever had one GE variable speed washer and I was pretty sure it was a 1968 machine I don’t have the machine anymore.

John.
