While down at the discount shops, saw "Sun" laundry detergent and the box gave directions for front loading washers. IIRC someone posted in the former Sandbox they tried this detergent, but cannot recall their experience.

For the record, Huish makes Sun, and it seems like a "bargin" brand, but does smell nice.

Also saw big boxes of Arm&Hammer detergent with a "Citron" scent. Considering Arm&Hammer is pretty low sudsing, wonder if one could use it in a front loader? Big boxes of original scent Tide were there also, but seem to recall that is a highly sudsing detergent, so passed on it as well.

I have tried SUN detergent, and although I like the fragrance, it does seem to suds up quite a bit; especially in the rollermatic. I have always preferred low sudsing detergents. There was a discussion on here about the Sears HE detergent with Oxyclean. I liked that alot and it was a bargain price at $9.99 on sale.

I like Sun. Here in Las Vegas, I can buy a 100 ounce bottle of Sun With Bleach for $1.97 at Wal-Mart; it cleans great and has a nice smell. (I have a top-loading Roper, and it doesn't oversuds with the Sun.) I combine it with the Sun Cuddle Soft liquid softener ($1.69 for 64 ounces), and I have a clean soft wash.
Good value for the price.

Hey Mike,

I'm with you.I have always been a fan of the Whirlpool family of appliances, especially Kenmore. You can't beat Roper washers & dryers for value! Being a self-employed technician, it is usually the only brand I recommend.

Sun is my brand! It can be a very sudsy, particularly in front-loaders, but after a while you get the measurements down to a science. I buy the "classic" 1-cup formula at the Dollar Tree, and it performs very well.

I used Sun for a week and liked the fresh scent. Good cleaning ability as well. It worked best on loads that didn't splash around so much...did tend to oversuds with the Surgilator, especially on medium loads.

I still couldn't get used to not having Tide Original Scent w/Bleach. Must be "my brand"...LOL

Sun detergent

I usually buy Xtra at Walgreens, but happen to have some liquid and powder SUN on hand. Both seem to work just fine in both the '78 LK, and the currently in use '72 LK portable.
